Background Check

Anybody has any idea as to how long it takes to complete the background check at Sydney?

My ecas was updated on 11 December 2013. I appliend on 10th October and it was received at Sydney on 15th Oct. Ideally my local office would be Scarborogh but presently some of the applican has been sent to Missisauga as well.

usually couple of months. you need RCMP, CSIS and FOSS clearance.

RCMP will check criminal records via fingerprints.
CSIS checks any security related issues.
FOSS is central database to check your previous visa history etc...

All these are usually fast. It is CIC that takes months in processing it and moving your file to the next stage.

If they determine that you need background check then yes they will ask to get fingerprints. It is required for RCMP clearance.
