Background Check -qorax pls reply

Hi qorax,

Just need your advice on this security and criminal check for people working on cruise ship.

I have submitted my PP,RPRF and done with medicals for PNP application. Since I was on cruise ships and have been to few places around, how do they do this security check since its been a while after i have submitted my PP. I did get a query though in last week of March abt FBI clearance. Since I was on a cruise ship in US but have been in and out of US every week so no clearance is required on my part.To that the VO has not got back to me as I did ask him if any fruther information is required. I too had a federal skilled application which was withdrawn by CHC ND after I replied to them. I have other colleagues who have applied for PR and have not done this FBI.

So how do they do this check as I have been working for last 7 yrs and have FTH?

Kind of getting frustated at home n really wanting to know whats happening.

Your inputs on the same will be highly appreciated.

Background checks are done secretly by CSIS and no one has exact information what they do....and how much time required for that.....
Avg processing Time is 5-6 months......
Your medical has done on 6th march, so if your file is not selected for BC then you should get visa within few weeks other wise it will take time for securty check done by so called external agency....
Email to CHC and if they respond that some background investigation going on.....then you have idea that your passport stamping will take time.

I have mailed CHC a few days back and have not heard anything from them so far. I just hope its not a long wait as each day is like a month now.Have u heard anyting from CHC abt ur case.

Thats good if you have not heard any thing....coz they don't respond if they believe visa will issue shortly. so hopefully next week you get your visa. My case has been under security clearance.....95 days gone and still i have to wait for more time and no one know how much.

Even i have a question for you Captain QORAX i have stayed in canada in the year 2001 for 8 months...will i have to undergo the same background check and delay in my process because of this...

If u have not stayed 6 months or over in a particular city/country [after the age of 18], u don't need its PCC. As I understand, if u were In & Out; and didn't complete 6 months at US, u won't be needing it.

However, once the CHC asks u for some doc & u haven't submitted that [even if your reply was due to genuine reasons], u r bound to get a couple of more BF'Ds. 'Coz, the VO then need to scrutinize your security clearance thru other means... & that takes time.

BTW, relax... things would be alright in a shortwhile.

Not necessarily a delay... but the checks would be there. It'd depend on many other factors/criterion. Usually in 2-5 months one should have his/her security clearance. Avg 3-4 months.

BTW, I would like to hear about Laklak question if background check is done at a random criteria? Depending of your nationality for instance. Or it´s a general internal process no matter who you are.

To Laklak & SFD:

There r 2 aspects of the b/ground check/s. One the documentation [std b/g] checks & the other is the security checks. The first commences after the IA, while the second [security] is usually done after the meds.

Both r not done@Random. It's done for every applicant. However, certain cases would go into deeper checks. Read here:

Last night, I read about a case in South America in which the VO requests all three things: Medical Checks, Fees for PRV and Passport... Thay guy probably didnot get any sleep....

It´s insane knowing one cannot do anything with the process itself.
