Background Check Not Started - AOR Aug 2018

I have applied through the Express Entry Program and received the AOR on August 1, 2018. I got a message on August 24th, that my medicals are cleared. However, I have not heard back on any change in status. Also
the BG check status has not changed and is at ''Your application is in process and we will send you a message when your background check starts''. Does this mean that my BG check has not started ? Have the application processing times increased this year due to increase in applications CIC is receiving?
 
Average application process time is six months. Yes many applications are processed sooner that that but that's the time frame you should be willing to wait for. Your application is well within that time frame. Besides, your online account doesn't show the true picture of your application.

6 months is the processing time as per CIC website. Have patience.
