Background check: not applicable (Is it normal?)

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for a study permit extension with in Canada. My background check shows not applicable. It did not happen with my other applications.

Can anyone help dim a light on this matter?

BG checks usually get triggered when you answer yes to "criminal/any violations etc". Sometimes they do it randomly, based on nationality etc etc.
Within Canada, since you're already here and it's just for an extension I don't think they'd wanna do a BG check.
