Baby photos? Option C printout?

I am filling out my application for permanent residency from within canada and I am being sponsored by my common-law partner. We have a child together, a one-year-old son who was born in Canada. I'm assuming that I need to include our son as a dependent, so do I also need to provide dated professional photos of our baby? Will attached home photos suffice?

Question 2.. we have a Notice of Assessment (property assessment) that was sent to us in the mail, it explains our property value and has my partner/sponsors name on it. Is this good enough evidence or do I need to obtain something more specific?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

I just answered one of my questions. NO, I do not need to provide photos for a child that is already a Canadian Citizen. Now about that option C assessment....

yes you have to have an option C printout....that is the form that shows you did not collect welfare/social assistance.....a property assesment form with both your names on it is good as additional proof of your relationship but it does not replace an Option C.... :)

Option C is really easy to get, and it is free. I would call CRA and ask for it. It normally takes less than 10 days to arrive. All CIC wants to know is if the sponsor is on welfare or not.

That being said, when I sent in our application, I only had the Option C for the previous year, since the results for this year's taxes weren't in yet. So I supplied the previous year's Option C, with an explanation on why I am not sending in the latest (it wasn't available yet) and then I also included a copy of the tax return that I had filed. They approved us with no problems.

The Option C is NOT mandatory...IF...you have been living exclusively outside Canada for a number of years and have not filed tax returns. They only want the most recent Option C. I didn't submit the Option C and I had no problem getting approved as my wife's sponsor.

yes but you lived outside of Canada FS.....the OP lives inside Canada......and while it is not mandatory per say for the sponsors living inside of Canada it makes it alot easier to have one..... :D

I just thought I'd get that out there to let others know that it's very much possible to be approved without the Option C...

Yes. I submitted tax assessments for 2010 (notarized and translated) along with pay stubs, statements of earning and benefits from my Chinese employer for 2010 and 2011, a letter from my employer, and a one-page explanation as to why I did not submit an Option C (basically because I haven't filed Canadian tax returns since 1998). I was approved without a question...and my wife's app was processed very quickly (just waiting for them to return her passport with the visa and COPR).

This only applies if you have been working outside of Canada for a number of years.

goatgirl - if you have been working in Canada the last 1-2 years, you need the Option C printout. Give CRA a call and they'll send you one, it's pretty straight-forward.

If you have NOT been working in Canada the last 1-2 years, then just write a letter stating as such (this was our case, I'm the sponsor and have been in the UK for the past 4 years, not filing taxes in Canada as I'm not a resident, so I just wrote a letter saying my last tax return was filed in 2008 and I have been in the UK continuously since. Approved no problem.).

what happens if you have not worked in canada for many years but do live here so can't do option c. Is there any other way to show that you are not and have never been on welfare. I can show my investments and bank accts balances as means of supporting my husband...is that ok?

How's that? You don't work in Canada but you live there? What kind of job do you do?

That is correct as what CIC told me is that if you don't have an option C then you just need a letter of explanation
