Hi

I have recently been accepted and given permenant residence to Canada with my documents issued. I have yet to travel to Canada and need to do this by January 2017 to prevent my P.R. from expiring.

My wife and I have had a new son since my documents were issued, born in the U.K. My wife is Canadian by birth, so our new son is a Canadian citizen but does not have his certificate proving so yet. We have not formally notified Canadian immigration about the birth and are unsure what to do.

The PR documents state that it is too late to add a child as they have already processed the application. However he is not a dependant child, as he is already Canadian by birth. I notified the immigration via email and I believe we need to submit an add on request but we don't know how this will affect our application!
Any advise you could provide in relation to this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone

since the child is a canadian citizen, it will not affect the outcome of the approval or your COPR document. cic does need to be notified of the baby's birth, so you need to send a copy of their certificate of citizenship before landing. at the very least, send a case specific enquiry and tell them you'll send the certificate once received.

Thanks for the reply. This is what we thought, however paranoia was starting to creep in!
