Qorax, heyy how are you? I dont come to this site often but once i got a shock when i read from people that you quit the forum:p. As you said hard to get jobs with foreign qualification in Canada, does that include US degrees and work experience too? As i have completed most of my studies in US and working as a Licensed Civil engineer in US for last 5 years. i have recently started looking for possibilities in Alberta area. Lets see as i need to move down there soon. However, i am kinda scared to go to canada in winter as in US its still bearable in Texas where i live. Probably i will visit my hometown Kolkata before i head out for canada:)

US quals r viewed a shade better. But expect no miracles though.

Qorax

Is it safe to assume the UK qualifications and experience will be treated the same as the US qualifications / experience i.e. a shade more favourably than, say, Indian quals/exp?

Thanks

The Avg Canadian Annual Salary is $2200-2400.

For a newcomer expect to make the Min Wage for starting, ie $10.25/Hr in Ontario. 40 Hrs a week x 4 Weeks... Pls do the maths.

Not that it'd be the norm - but getting higher wages than that should be left to chance & fate. Many do fetch $13-15/Hr as well (in the start).

6 months hence expect $15-17/Hr. By 10-12 months u should be able to make $18-20/Hr usually.

Hi Captain... it was nice to meet you today at Al Ghurair. You mentioned that by one year one can earn $ 18-20. But what if one's starting experience in canada is in some other job and then he shifts to another field?

Hi - This is bit informative and useful for prospects.

Whenever questions concerning income or anything for that matter are put, we expect two replies -
(i) for the new immigrants who are less than one year old and who are still to obtain a standard/permanent job; and
(ii) for the immigrants who are more than one year old and who probably must have obtained permanent job.

The above formula if applied definitely will convey a more meaningful message.

Thanks
