Hi Newcomer!
I'm from Canmore which is about 45 minutes away from Calgary but I do know Calgary well enough to give you some advise as we always go there in the weekends.
1. For property management companies there are tons: here are some- hopestreet.ca, rentfaster.ca, mcmproperty.com. They don't charge any fee, not that I know of but if you decide to rent from them they require a month's rent for damage deposit and sometimes 500 to reserve the place which will be deducted from your 1st month rent. Most of them require a 6-month or a 1 year lease. You can also try kijiji.ca and craigslist for direct to owner rentals.
2. For furniture, thrift store. Again depends on where in Calgary you will be at. It's the best time of the year to get some good stuff in there as most replace their furniture in the summer. Another site where you can get good deals will be kijiji.ca and craigslist.
3. kitchen, comforters and basic electrical appliances - Ikea, Walmart, Costco and Real Canadian Superstore, they are all over Calgary.
