Dear

I wish to know what is included in rent and what is not . .

Im assuming in high rises condos

Hydro (elect), heat, and water is included . . ..

that leaves

Grocery
Phone, internet, tv cable
transport

as the major areas, i read somewhere for family of couple and small kid monthly in cad

Grocery 600
phone, internet, tv 100 combo
transport 130

What about the stove for cooking, does it run on gas or electricity ?
and what is laundry washing and drying cost per wash and how many clothes fit in it ?

Also do school bus pick and drop kids for free ? and are all books free ?

Regarding healthcare i read only doctors visit is free, what about medicines, and visit to podriatrist, dentist
etc ?

Thanks

I'll help with a few questions..

Transport will be around $140 for each parent (so around $280 total per month). I would put phone / internet / TV at $200 per month.

Stove will run on electricity if you are in a condo.

You must pay for medicines and visits to the dentist yourself. This isn't covered by OHIP.

Thanks for your reply...

So heat, water and hydro (elect) are normally included in high rise condos rental ?

I saw kids under 12 ride free in TTC (which is great) . . .

You mentioned phone, internet, cable tv to be 200 cad /month -- does this include mobile phone ?

Can you give a background of this 200 cad cost ?

Thanks

You can shop around for different telecom bundles. I am not sure with Rogers, but Bell offers mobile bundles at $266+/month check it out here http://www.bell.ca/Bell-bundles. Usually, mobile providers are separate.

Regarding laundry, most condo units already have washer/dryer included (inside the unit). If not, there will be community coin-operated laundry. The size of the washer/dryer can vary.

that's too expensive

try Tecksavvy, Koodo or Wind mobile, they have more moderate pricing.
Grocery is pretty expensive, however it depends on the area where you live. If you plan to have a car, many people go to do their groceries outside the downtown district in places like Costco, where pricing is more moderate. The most expensive chains are Loblaws, Sobeys and Longo's, then comes Metro, Freshco etc.

Apartment buildings are usually cheaper (and at times more spacious) than condos.

If you get a full-time job, you might get benefits that will allow you include your family members in your insurance plan. Depending on a plan, you will be able to cover up some dentist, medicine costs.
If you are a contractor, you still can purchase external insurance plan.

Hope it helps.

Actually, electricity is not included in most high rise condos.

However, it is mostly included in Apartment buildings.
