I have completed my two years diploma course in Canada , been working in Canada since the very first day of my work permit and got my IELTS result yesterday ( S-8 , R-8 , L-7.5 , W-6.5 , O-7.5 ) . Checked my online score in CIC website and its coming out to be just 388 . Holy smokes !!! What d hell is goin on here in Canada , these new rules have completely ruined our lives . Deserving candidates like me and my fellow international students , who have worked their ass off to reach where they are , are in limbo as they are being awarded with these shi*** scores which put them way back in the pool . Uncertainty about our own future is quite sad as there is nothing we can do about it . Can't seem to find any silver lining here !!!! :-X :-X

Graduation by itself isn't enough.

You have a couple options:

1) PNP. Some require employers, some do not.
2) LMIA Job Offer. You may have to move to find an employer who can get one.
3) Improve your score. More education, more work history, better language scores. Get your score in the 460 range, and you will likely get an ITA.

It's not about "working your ass off". Working really hard doing the wrong things won't accomplish what you want to accomplish. Your life is not ruined - something worthwhile is just a bit harder to get now.

The silver lining is that it's faster, not likely to change for a few years, and the PNP Express Entry streams are going quite fast. With the PNP, you could potentially get P/R in a couple months. It's not too long until the end of the year, and next year they will have more slots be available. Get your docs together, get ready to apply, and work to be the best candidate you can.

Pardon my language but this is bull**** . If I did write Ielts again to improve my writing score , that ain't gonna help me at all . That would drag me to 399 which is again a loosin figure .
This might sound a lil absurd but findin a pr chick is the only key to unlock this door I guess .

And you have 3 years of work permit right? So its better to apply after 1 more year. You will have enough points by then. And improve your ielts too.

Hi, I think we're in the same situation. I was wondering if you know how work experience is calculated.

EG: If you started working right out of graduation in April 2014 and only received your PGWP in November 2014, when do you reach one years worth of work experience, in April 2015 or November 2015.

Sorry to burst ur bubble but we ain't on a same boat bro , I got my work permit and a job in June and been workin in the same job since then . I'm 100 % sure about the fact that work experience in CEC cat. starts from the day u start working full time (40 hrs / week) along with a legit work permit . In your case , you'll be eligible for applying under CEC in Nov 2015 .
Should you have more queries , please feel free to contact my buddy Asivad .

I thought the new rules favour candidates already having jobs in Canada ? Am I wrong ?
