hi,

I need urgent assistance here.
My score was 455 when i submitted the application. Yesterday when the draw came and i logged in , it was automatically updated to 462 and i received the invite. This is because of Canadian work experience calculation the system does.
If we count day wise my work experience is coming to 3 years and 9 months approx, but system has calculated the scores as per 4 years experience because of which i got a jump from 455 to 462.

My documents are already sorted and ready.
When i calculate the experience by days then it is 75 days short from 4 years. This might be a risk as the immigration may reject saying misrepresentation of information.

I got the invite because of the new score calculated by CIC but i am in a dilemma whether i should submit the application or not?
Or should i decline this and wait or another draw?

What should i do?

If what you're saying is accurate, you should decline and wait for another draw. 75 days short is quite a lot.

You'll probably get it next month, or in 75 days your score will legitimately rise to 462 and the you can accept any ITA after that.

Your score is quite good and waiting a couple more months (at most) is worth it. You're already in Canada on a work permit, right? It's best to be patient and submit a clear and simple application. You'll get your PR for sure.

Thank you for your guidance here.

My project might end soon and i might have to travel back to home country. I am worried about how this will impact my scores and will it cause any changes in my profile?
For instance
Case 1: if i get an invite and I have to travel back before submission, then do I have to decline the invite and again join the pool because there will be change in work location.

case 2: I get the invite , i do the submission and then go back, does this impact on the submitted application?

Case 3: I go back and then get an invite , how would this impact my submission. (Again I think i have to modify my profile because of work location change.)

Hoping for advice and waiting for one more draw in November.

Thanks

Hi itiwari,
The country in which you reside before, during, or after your ITA and application submission will generally have no bearing on your application. If you move back to your country before you submit your application, make sure you indicate the country you're in as your country of residence. If you move back after you submit your application, make sure you raise a CSE to let IRCC know about your current location (primarily so that, when they process your application and you eventually get your PPR email, IRCC will know to which visa office they should direct you, to get your COPR and PR counterfoil stamp in your passport if needed).

Your work location at the time of your application submission isn't relevant to your application. Your application (and your CRS points) considered the merits of all your COMPLETED (aka past) work experience, not your current work experience (the exception being if you got CRS points for having arranged employment in Canada, and you're leaving that job).

As per IRCC's definition a full time job is 30 hrs per week. Check if that was the reason your experience was counted as 4 years since you might be using 40 hrs/week for 3+ years.

It doesn't work like that. The extra hours worked above 30 hrs/week does not add up and count as extra days on your work experience.

Thanks , mine is full time job 40 hours per week.
I am really confused as on CIC site also nothing is mentioned about if extra hours experience will be counted as a valid experience.

Moreover,
I read this old post : https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/does-cic-count-current-canadian-work-experience-wrong.454853/

where people suggested that we should not fall for wrong scoring as it is system calculation. It is our responsibility to submit accurate information.
So i will decline this invite and I will hope and pray that there is another draw in Nov with cutoff less than 455 , so that i can submit my final application even if i leave for my home country.

I am really thankful to all of you for your replies and guidance. This forum really helps in making an informed decision. :)

Wait, what?! Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, then boy am I glad I don't work more than 30 hours per week.

This is the link which shows the work experience calculation : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=664&top=29

There is no statement about working more than 30 hours will be counted or not.

I will again elaborate my issue once again.
My current trip starts from 20th Nov 2016 till date. ( 51 weeks total) and i worked 40 hours a week. ( I do have previous experience in Canada)
This makes the calculation 40 * 51 = 2040 hours

Now CIC says work hours should be 1560 for whole year full time job. Mine is 480 hours extra.
I am just trying to understand if this impacted my crs calculation.

@itiwari

What is your exact work experience periods in Canada?

The EE system considers the whole month while calculating work experience. That is why you are being credited extra months.

Let's say you worked during the following time period:

15th Jan 2015 to 5th Dec 2016 - Actual work experience is 10 months and 20 days. But EE system considers it as 12 months since it counts whole of January and December.

When you submit the PR application, a visa officer will manually calculate your work experience points. So ensure that your actual work experience points and CRS score is above the cuttoff for that round.

BTW hours worked per week has nothing to do with work experience calculation (as long as you have worked the minimum 30 hours per week)

Thanks a lot for the clarification.

I have worked from 2013 to 2016 for about 2 years 10 months and current trip is from 20 nov 2016 till date.
So exact work experience is 3 years 9 months total but system calculated as 4 years due to date calculation as you explained.
