Good day Everyone,

I believe every one in this forum now knows that there are somethings in the application which can trigger an automatic RQ issuance. And one of them is C1.

C1 – ID (provided in support of application) has been issued within 3 months of date of application.

Now my question here is, is it exactly within 3 months - Say today is Aug 2, 2013. So they only issue RQs if the ID was issued after May 2, 2013 which makes it within 3 months.

How about IDs which are issued say 3.5 months before the application date? Do they still issue RQ? these IDs come up for renewal and having a new ID will put the application in limbo.

Please help. Thanks

I am not a senior member, but I would like to offer a few thoughts anyway:

Given that the CIC releases almost no general information about the RQ risk indicators, much less subtle readings of their application, the only viable way to answer this question is through a close reading of the text. To my mind, "issued within 3 months" means that the timeframe must be 3 months or less. So, 3.5 months does not qualify as "within 3 months".

It's worth noting that some posters here, notably KingoftheRings and OKK, have reported not receiving the RQ despite using IDs issued within the past 3 months in support of their applications. We can't say exactly how the CIC applies its risk indicators currently or even whether the risk indicators have been revised without our knowledge.

Hi eileenf,

Thanks for the input. appreciate the time.

yeah i know, if we go by the text, then only the ones within 3 months should apply.

However, this whole process is so nerve wrecking that I cannot tell you how much time and how much detailed attention its needing.

Little things which bear no value or point now seem to paranoid everyone. Sometimes even though we know the answer and we clearly see it and understand, we still come out on this forum looking for answers or opinions from other people for self satisfaction. it has come down to this level eh...

But its good to hear that others haven't got RQed even after using IDs under 3 months.

:D :D :D :D

I suggest CIC to make a separate page re RQ on their website. RQ is a lengthy process that requires a clear definition, including; duration, risk indicators as mentioned above and etc. I do not understand why they do not share this valuable information with applicants? It affects so many people's lives and their families! so many guessing about what triggers RQ in the forum and yet nobody clearly knows what is the real deal. Seems like CIC enjoys paper work too much! why don't they request all the required documentation with the actual citizenship application rather than issuing an RQ? At least we will know that we submitted everything needed!

Please send a letter to your MP and to the CIC suggesting this on behalf of the tens of thousands of RQ recipients and future applicants as well.

Incidentally, this is why I started the RQ blog.

Regretfully, I am not in Canada for sometime. I have not got RQ yet but very sad for people who got it, especially those who got RQ with no valuable reason!

Is it advisable to submit everything that we have along with the citizenship application?

Does it hurt your application? Does it delay it even further since you are submitting documents that are not requested? How does CIC see this?

Any thoughts? Has anyone done that and did it work for him or her?

Where is OP getting this information from? What is the source?

Yes, it is incredibly frustrating that you cannot find out what the triggers for an RQ are so you avoid them. Its almost like there is secret law. You think you have done everything right, but then find out that you are suspicious because of some factor you didn't even know about. It raises serious questions about the rule of law in the entire process.

I am sorry, I do not know the answer! I personally submitted what was requested, nothing extra!

Not a senior member but speaking with experience. The time i sent out my application my health card was only a month old. I took my test last month awaiting Oath ceremony. All went well without a glitch.

Good luck

OKK, did you use your health card as an ID for your application? (Did you provide a photocopy?)
