My son was born in the US on May 14, 1996. I am a Canadian citizen-born in Canada and my parents and grandparents were born in Canada (g-parents born in 1898 in New Brunswick). My son and I reside in the US. My question is this-was he automatically a Canadian citizen at birth? Can he move to Canada for University? (and perhaps settle in Canada). Thanks for any help.

1. You have to apply for proof of citizenship for him. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
2. He would have all the rights of a citizen once he has the proof.

Yes, he was a citizen at birth, but, as PMM wrote, he would need proof of citizenship to move to Canada, etc.
