Hello,

I am an Australian currently residing in Canada on a working holiday visa. I want to stay longer and would like your help to confirm if the following are correct.

1. I have been informed I can re-new my working holiday visa year after year because i'm Australian, and eventually I can change my status to permanent resident after spending so many years here. Do you know if this is accurate? Are there specific criteria to meet for this to happen i.e have a degree.

Any comments welcome, thank you!

1. Australian WHP visa is only valid for a maximum of 2 years.
2. To apply for permanent residence, you have to have at least one year employment in a job of the "list of 38" or you can apply under the other 2 streams. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

someone gave you wrong info! you cannot keep extending WHP year after year. If you've been living here for one year you could qualify for skilled worker category though. Do the self assessment on cic website link PMM mentioned above.
