Thanks for the reply. With the immigration system being so non transparent, it's good to talk to people who are going through the same process. I sent my application to Mississauga on 25 feb and it was delivered on 27th if feb. how long does it take before they send us some sort of acknowledgement ?

I sent mine to Mississauga on August 28th. I didn't hear anything until October 22nd so it could still be a month or 2 before you hear anything. on October 22nd they emailed me saying I was approved as a sponsor and that our application had been sent to Sydney.

Looks like it took only about 4 months after the sponsor approval to get the passport request... are you in the home stretch now?
We just got sponsor approval this week and we're REALLY hoping that he gets it by Aug when he comes to Canada for my brother's wedding. Hopefully he won't have to make multiple trips!

No I never got an AOR. This is just what I could see on the online application status when I finally got my client ID number. I mailed it on Nov 26, they indicated they opened it on Nov 28, but I did not get sponsorship approval (meaning they didn't process it) until Feb 26th.

I would imagine the he should have it by August. if this all goes as planned, the whole process would have taken us about 7 months all up.

Any tips or advice or things to double check before I send my application??

Has anyone been caught out on any questions that are a bit ambiguous?

Or any signatures on certain pages forgotten?

I'm scared to send my application off in fear I've missed something! I keep re reading it over and over!

(My Canadian partner is sponsoring me, outland application. We have been in Canada since July 2012)

Hey there! The only one I got caught out with was the "Additional Family Information" form. I only put my Canadian partner an myself on there initially, thinking that it was only supposed to be filled out for those going to Canada. Little did I know it was for ALL family members including half-siblings and step-siblings. I had to resend a new form (twice) after the first stage was processed. It didn't really cause any major issue or delays though, thankfully!

Thanks for your reply! Fingers crossed! I'm feeling a lot more hopeful now that I know its in Sydney's hands rather then Mississauga (or Ottawa as it appears for us). I have a good feeling that it will all work out
So motivating to see that things are moving smoothly in Aus.

I receieved an acknowledgement reciept through an e-mail from Mississauga today. Hopefuly the stage one approval comes soon

AOR: 7th March

My NZ IEC visa expires October, so I'm cutting it fine to get my PR in time! But I'll just need to change my status to visitor if it's not here by then, is that correct? And hopefully it wont be too much after that as I wont be able to work!

As far as I am aware, that sounds correct! Hopefully you will have your COPR in hand by that stage though
