I got an update in my tracker today. My Background Verification changed from In Progress to Completed - Sep 3, 2024

“Below is the meaning of Ghost Update
The date updated will change to a today and a new update in the application history however there will not be any real change visible.
When you relogin the 'new update' will go away like a ghost.
Technically, it means an officer is working on your file for test or BG or your file was moved to your local office”

The average currently without fingerprint request or interview or being stuck in security is about 3-4 months
you can do the Test from outside Canada after replying to the test invite email and asking them to do so
but if Fingerprints is requested, you have to do it inside Canada
for Interview not sure if you can do it from outside or not
For the OATH, you have to be inside Canada

Thanks — yeah, I’m awaiting background check to be completed as I understand it’s the main indicator whether fingerprints are needed or not.

My wife just went through the citizenship process.

Application was sent Dec. 10, 2023 and she took her oath on Sep. 11, 2024.

Most people in that thread were processed faster, and some are still waiting.

Application was added to the tracker on Sep 5th. On the tracker, last update was on Sep 7th. No update after that. Citizenship test and oath are not started. Everything else is in In Progress. Should I expect an update anytime soon?

Normally the next update is about 6-8 weeks after AOR
