Hi everyone, what are the pros and cons of reaching a MP when an application exceeds the current processing time line?

I don’t believe there is any “con” , it may be helpful to gather more information about your situation.

At the same time, I’ve seen many MPs (including mine) to give applicants just a general response “IRCC is doing additional verifications and there’s no timeline at this time”.

My idea is that IRCC and only IRCC knows what’s going on with your file, and they can decide to not disclose any details to anybody if they don’t want to.

Indeed. I just got a reply from my MP, because the first one was a mistake. This is it:

Please see the update below that IRCC provided me on your application:

• Application received August 25, 2024
• Scarbrough processing office
• Knowledge passed
• Security passed
• Criminality in progress
• Language and residency not started

The current processing time for citizenship application has reduced to 8 months and as a result I was able to send a message to IRCC notifying that the processing time for your file has passed and if they can action on it accordingly.

IRCC will reach out to you directly if additional information is needed.

Nope, nothing had moved, or has, since updating the exam to "complete". I did the fingerprints on Saturday. Let's see how long now to get any new updates.

That's ridiculous. They do not seem to look back and check if your file is stuck

I am in SS since Oct, 2023 and I have 2 questions:

1. I was requested to submit a police report from a country i lived in before settling in Canada. I submitted the report in 3 days after the request but the tracker still shows that it is waiting on me to provide them with necessary documentation. I received a standard confirmation as a response to the webform when i uploaded the police report and i have raised 2 webforms asking if there's anything waiting on me but all i get is the same standard reply. What shall I do?
2. According to my GCMS, my primary office changed from Niagara Falls to Montreal, is this an indication of anything? and how is Montreal office in terms of processing speed?

• Request ATIP reviews, it's free. Might help you understand if there's a holdup or a missed communication.
• Send a webform.
• Ask for the support of your local MP https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en

I just requested an ATIP, let's see. It blows my mind that I haven't even taken the test yet lol I think my file slipped under a cabinet or something and it's far out of sight.

Finally !! Agent answered my call and told me oath is scheduled for June 14th . Will receive email this week .
Ghost update on May 30 and tracker yet to update .
