I just read this on the news and I hope I’ll be able to travel to reunite with my hubby through this new incentive the Canadian government is taking. It’s a whole year I saw my hubby. I got pre-arrival letter and medical request since January 2020 and medicals done March. All I see on my application since then is “medical recieved”my application has exceeded the one year since august 2020. No news from Accra Ghana. This is completely frustrating. Even when my hubby’s MP contacted their office, they said it’s just a year that they only attend to emergency cases. I wonder what could be more emergency than priotizing family reunion.

There is nothing new here for immediate family unless compassionate (illness or death).

Any new with Missisauga? I wonder why cant I see a lot of update from that Visa Office? Our application reached one year last Aug 2020 already. PA is from Philippines but our application is being processed at Missisauga.

Good day guys, I saw this update on my application last night. I don’t know what documents they are requesting now, since I’m using the ECAS. Our immigration lawyer usually gets the mail update and send to us. But it’s a long weekend we can reach him on phone since it’s a holiday. I’m hoping is it’s PPR.

7. We sent Elohozino Cote correspondence on October 9, 2020. If Elohozino Cote has not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please have Elohozino Cote do so as soon as possible. Please wait until Elohozino Cote receives the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

Does it say DECISION MADE before you click in? If so most likely it is.

No. It says in process. But I don’t know which other documents they’ll be requesting because they asked for additional documents late last year which we submitted and checked before medical request and pre-arrival services January 2020. Medical received early March. Since then nothing till few days ago I got this update.

Oh ok. Hopefully it's something simple. Must be annoying to not be able to get into your GCKey. I couldn't do it. I have control issues, ha ha.

No, you cannot remain outside Canada without risk application will be cancelled. PRs must be resident in Canada.

Trips of a few weeks seem to be considered visits,ie less than a month.

Thanks for the info .. you mean to say “cannot remain outside Canada without reason “??

No, I do not and did not mean to say that. There's no indication that they will pay any attention to "a reason" at all, nor that they are required to give any consideration.

That doesn't mean they might, sometimes, possibly. But what I wrote is that anyone staying outside runs the risk their application could be cancelled because they are not residing in Canada as required.

If someone wants to run that risk, that's their business.

Is it the case for Outland Spousal application or Inland spousal / or for both .

As far as I'm aware, both. The requirement for PR-sponsor to reside in Canada is clear; there's no evidence they interpret that to mean as "reside in Canada only when they submit the application." The only question mark is that there is no clear, specific definition of when "residence" in Canada ends when a PR-sponsor leaves; the experience reported here seems to have been that a few weeks (i.e. less than a month) is usually ignored, longer could be an issue.

For inland, there is the additional complication that the whole point is that the applicant is already in Canada, i.e. I believe an inland applicant who leaves and does not return may also have issues - but I don't know the inland procedure well.
