So I was looking at this situation yesterday and from what I understand the checklists and extra copies of everything have been missed by a lot of people who HAVE NOT had their applications returned. One person in particular was providing updates of her whole situation and she forgot the checklist and copies and received her OWP with no issues. I am under the impression because this is a pilot project some things may be a bit mis-leading. Please don't take what I say as gospel but I have taken some re-assurance from what I have been reading.

Hope this helps,
Thanks @Bungali88 ! What you're saying makes a lot of sense, since the OWP checklist seems to cover what we've already said in the PR checklist, we're not using a representative, we're married etc and we've provided copies for the required docs too in the PR application, we would very much be repeating ourselves if we had included that stuff. Your answer was very reassuring :)

From the thread I posted, it looks like if they do decide to return, it'd just be our OWP and not the PR part (if we haven't missed anything for that) so fingers crossed! :D

I guess the best thing to do is just to wait. If they send the application back.
Yeah for sure. I sent my application in June and received AOR end of July, yet still I have heard nothing back from the OWP but then again neither has anyone else as the applications are still being processed from May. I am in exactly the same boat as you, although mine may be slightly different as I am currently on an implied status so if for whatever reason my OWP application is returned then I've got an even longer road to go down!

So you did just send them the IMM5710 and no checklists or copies at all?

I sent everything needed for my PR and included the OWP application, but I am not 100% sure that I included the extra OWP checklist and extra photocopies that are needed.

I'm currently on implied status too @Bungali88 as I'm from a Commonwealth country (UK). My 6 months expires soon (middle of Sept) so, in light of this possibly being an issue, I'm going to start the application to extend my visitor status!

If this is the case, we may have messed up the order on our application, we placed our OWP and PR app together using the following instructions from the website:

Step 6. Submit the application
Note: Before submitting your application, you should always make a photocopy for your own records. You may need information from your package after you submit your application.

Now that you’ve finished preparing your application, you can submit it for processing. You should do the following:

  1. Place a copy of the checklist on top of your complete application package. This will help make sure the application can be processed as quickly as possible when it arrives in our office.
  2. If you’re applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada class and the person you’re sponsoring is also applying for an open work permit, after the checklist, place:
    • the work permit application form and documents (if applicable) and
    • a separate fee payment receipt for the cost of the work permit application
  3. The order of documents should be as follows:
    • checklist;
    • open work permit application (and supporting documents), if applicable;
    • any barcode pages;
    • supporting documents, in the order they are listed on the checklist.
It doesn't mention anything about sending the PR application and OWP as separate applications. This makes it sound like the 'complete application package' is the two combined and the checklist its referring to is IMM5533e which is the checklist for the whole app.

I'm guessing if we've done the above our application will be returned for having it in the wrong order?
this is very right... yes the barcodes should be after the checklist. (Although it is okay if one has them before the checklist) they should just not be in between the other forms).

As for the OWP, this has been a discussion. Some say that no. 1 shows that the application package for PR is complete. Then comes no. 2 which is then mentions the OWP. Anyway, I have never heard of one's application being returned because of the arranged documents. The most important thing is to make sure you have the OWP supporting documents separate from the PR supporting documents (eg. copy of passport and marriage certificate if applicable). There have been people in the forum whose OWP applications were returned/ or were asked to send in these documents because they did not attach them as they assumed the supporting documents for the PR would suffice.

You are right. Some times it depends on the person dealing with your file. For instance some where asked to send in missing fees, while other's applications were returned for missing a complete fee. So yeah, it does make us paranoid, but the least we can do is hope for the best

If you have received AOR then you should be okay. They tend to return applications before sending AOR.

Hi Everyone !
I am going to be submitting for my husband's sponsorship this week and was going through this thread for some guidance.
so on the website it only talks about submitting the forms in the application package.
What about associated documents? Like should I include marriage certificate, any pay stubs, photographs from our dating period or anything?
thanks

Yes you should be submitting that too. Are u applying inland? If so, see your country specific requirements and document checklist.

Hi,
I have a question, where do I find the date on which PR status obtained? Could someone please guide.

Thanks.
