Question 12 What is the meaning of "Required to file" on Tax Year?
Each year you live in Canada you have to File your Taxes. Required to File means you had to File your Taxes in that year. For those years you lived outside Canada (before coming to Canada) you are not required to file taxes.

added on the September spreadsheet as this is the expected delivery date.

I haven't seen a thread for September 2019 applicants, you might start one if you want.

Hi, I’m looking to submit my application soon. I just wanted to ask: are we required to submit a police clearance from our country of origin? The 5 year eligibility period covers from 2014-2019 and I moved to Canada in 2016 so I was living in the Philippines up until I left. Do I have to submit a police clearance from there?

Open main application form (CIT0002) and go to section 10 (Page 3) you can see it says:
Note: If you were in your country or territory of origin immediately prior to becoming a permanent resident and landing in Canada and this time falls within this four (4) year period, you are not required to provide a police certificate. Please indicate this in the explanation box.

So if you landed in Canada in 2016 and you didn't leave Canada more than 6 months after that, you don't need a police certificate.

Thank you for the clarification ! I just checked out the form I was filling out to look for that instruction and realized mine was the old one which didn’t have that. So relieved I don’t have to go through the hassle of getting a police clearance. You’re a godsend!
