I have a similar situation than yours. However, I stopped working and applied for a visitor visa as they denied my work permit renewable. When I was filling the papers for my Citizenship, I called CIC and they said that for that period of time I could write that i was in "implied status". I gave explanation with my application about this. I used the three months as implied status and almost a month as visitor visa before they gave me the PR... However, as of today, almost 3 months after, I haven't get my AOR yet. So hope they don't return the package because I filled the period as they suggested me to do. I also stated that in my application.
 
Can someone confirm if the processing of application(In Process) can start without change in ecas status (App Received). Has anyone seen or heard about events like this.
 
I received my AOR on 23rd and after that no activity. Is this normal ? Is there a way to contact CIC by phone.

Very normal. Its too early to conact CIC. Be patient your application will progress soon. Note that a couple of people who sent their application in the first week don't even have AOR yet so you are one of the fortunate ones. Follow this link to see those still waiting:

hey all, my app was received by them on aug 23rd, no communiation yet from them, i am just wondering how do we get for/file number? by email? also is it normal to not receive any communication from them till now? or should i contact cic?
 
Hi Everyone. Here is my info:

App. Sent: Aug 11, 2018
App. Received: Canada Post Xpresspost tracking status "in transit" since August 14 - Has not updated since. Called Canada post to find out what happened back in August, it was escalated to a Supervisor when i called, Supervisor told me that because the place in Nova Scotia is a high volume receiver, packages are not signed for upon receipt so the status is not updated. "shrug" It is thought to be delivered on August 14th.
AOR - Waiting

Called CIC this week, nothing on file for me yet. Nothing on ECAS for me yet. Nothing in the mail.

Anyone with this experience for Canada post? Everyone seems to have a received date.
