Hey guys.
Have been away from this forum and all whatsapp groups for a while now coz I just got tired of all this wait for PPR mail and talks about PPR and speculations etc.

But, last week I got my GCSM notes so I thought I share what it says in case it might help someone.

AOR 29 aug, I ordered my notes on 26 oct. So less than 2 months into my application. And it was way to early to order them as not much had been done on my file. I already knew I had completed/passed medicals and biometrics, so nothing new there. The only other thing they had worked on was criminality which I passed. So eligibility and security were not started (don't order notes so early, its a waste of your money).

But what I did find interesting in my notes was that my secondary visa office had changed due to workload distribution. My first secondary office was Vergeville (had to google it and it is a small town in Canada). So my new secondary visa office changed to CPC-Ottawa. This change happened on 20 oct, so 6 days after I ordered my notes. So hopefully Ottawa has more manpower than Vergeville and will process my file faster.

There was also a due date on my notes, the due date is today 2018-12-03. I know there is a maintenance on the CIC website tomorrow, so I have some hopes that this due date might at least mean a ghost update. But I have read on this forum that some get a ghost update/PPR mail on or after due date, while others don't get anything.

But all in all, the best thing with the notes was that I could see that my file is not just somewhere collecting dust. Even tho nothing seems to get updated on MyCIC account, they are working on our files.

I actually think, since I have worked several government jobs in Sweden, that Canada must be like Sweden. If Sweden were to have an increased target of skilled migrants (or any other target for that matter) it would take the government at least two years to have the correct infrastructure and enough manpower to actually enable it to meet the target. So I am just assuming that they have a lot to do. And I think this is rather evident when you check processing times on the CIC website. I am a FSW applicant, but I remember when I checked in aug, it said that CEC applicants are processed in 3-4 months. Now it is saying 6 months, the same as FSW.
We share similar timelines, I got my GCMS notes today, and it's a carbon copy of yours. The due date you explained, how sure are you about it? Because a friend told me its the date the notes were released.

Hi Guys,
I have just joined the group. My AOR is 11th August. Medicals passed on 1st Sep. I don’t exactly know when the status changed to “ Your background check is in progress”, however , the same status has been visible for more than a month now. I need your advise if I should order GCMS notes or wait for some more time

HI all,

I have a couple of queries. These may have been answered previously, however, I could not find an answer and hence posting it here. Hope someone can clear these.
1. If an application goes into "We are processing your background check", does it mean that Eligibility is MET/ PASSED?
2. Do all these processes i.e. Eligibility, Criminality & Security happen simultaneously or in sequence?

1.Generally it should mean that the eligibility is MET, but last month there was a case where the person was refused because of POF document(exchange rate) in IP2. So CIC account doesn’t state what’s the exact status of eligibility criteria.

2. It can be in sequence or simultaneously, based on posts there are queues for everything and people have received PPR from IP1.

But you can be assured that someone worked on your file.

Whatever bit I know is by reading through threads here. The status “background check is in progress” does not necessarily indicate that you’be passed the eligibility.
Basis my understanding, Here is the step by step process :

Criminality check—-> Security Check ——> Eligibility check —-> PPR

And to answer the second query all these steps may happen simultaneously.

Hope that helps buddy!!!

Guys,

From what we're seeing these days theres no definite process as such.

There are 5 major stages your file goes through and each stage taken care by different people/agencies,

Completeness check
Medical check
Eligibility check
Criminality check
Security check

Could happen simultaneously too.
Last year a friend of mine got her PPR in 22 calendar days from AOR. To complete everything in such record time, everything could have been simultaneous. You never know.

Nope, this is not the process. First step is to check your R10 Completeness, then they would check A.11.2 minimum entry criteria and Selection Decision R76. Here they will check if you have 67 pass marks or not. If you get 67 then they will initiate Admissibility checks (Criminality and Security). Please read-

Selection decision
Subsection 76(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations states that the Minister shall fix and make available to the public the minimum number of points required of a skilled worker (commonly known as the “pass mark”).

The pass mark is 67 points.

Officers will make a final selection decision for applications that are assessed by the Express Entry system or the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) as meeting the pass mark set by the Minister. The visa office will review the application in detail, along with the case analysis provided by the CIO (if applicable), and will make the final selection decision based on the total points earned by the applicant for the selection factors.
  • If the applicant’s total score is equal to or greater than the pass mark set by the Minister, the officer will make a positive selection decision, and proceed to determining admissibility.
  • If the applicant’s total score is less than the pass mark set by the Minister, the officer will make a negative selection decision, record the outcome and reasons in GCMS, and send a letter to inform the applicant that their application has been refused for insufficient points.
