I sent mine through Canadapost from Victoria BC and it was delivered before 10am the next day.

Hmm. Not to be nosy, but can I ask the cost on that? We were looking at $10 for Purolator next day from near Toronto.

It specifically says "Please note that we will not return documents to a Canadian address via any other courier." I assume this is because of federal obligations/contracts with them being required to only send mail via CanadaPost. Don't think you can use anything else for a Canadian address.

You can check prices online if you try to create a shipment it will give you an estimate.

Yeah, we know we have to use Canada Post for the return part, we were already planning on that. I was wondering about for actually sending it to CPC Ottawa though. If we have to use Canada Post for that part as well that's not a huge problem or anything, but it would slow us down by possibly a day, which could shift our entire moving plan by a weekend. I prefer to pay as little in prorated rent as I possibly can. ;)

Oh ok I misunderstood! Yeah there should be no problem how you send it they can't dictate to you what carrier to use!

I think it was around $15? But that was from all the way in Victoria!

I didn't even think of that. I was just going to use Xpresspost for both but you're right, sending with purolator TO Ottawa would be much faster!

If you have a mailing address in Canada:
- The pre-paid Xpresspost envelope must be from Canada Post. Please note that we will not return documents to a Canadian address via any other courier.
- Submit all documents by mail in a single package and send to the following address:
CPC – Ottawa – PR
PO Box 9780
Ottawa ON K1G 4B9

The instructions in the email clearly say if you have a mailing address in Canada, send the documents by mail.

If you use Purolator and send to the courier street address, its very possible to have confusion. That street address is for US return mailing addresses, not Canadian.

I'm having mine returned to our Canadian address, and I'm using Canada Post XpressPost BOTH ways. I'd hate to save a day in shipping, but lose that day (or more) due to being received at the incorrect address.

I'm 99% sure that both addresses end up in the same office/hands. The courier if anything might get them opened a day earlier as I am sure they don't check their PO box multiple times a day. It's the same thing for mailing the original applications, one courier address and one PO Box but they end up in the same place. The non-Canadian address also says "submit all materials by mail in a single package and send to The Following address" so not sure what you're trying to point out. I get the worry but honestly I would bet a 99% chance it would be fine. Heck I mailed my Annex A accidentally without the barcode (something meant to expedite the data entry) and there was no delay in getting my COPR. I feel like we are over thinking this lol. The ONLY reason they have a separate "non-Canada" address is because they can't accept courier mail at their PO box and non-Canadian mail is by default courier. They don't expect people within Canada to use a courier, but there's nothing saying they can't. It's a non-issue in my opinion.

I received passport copy request just in time on Valentine's day!
I mailed back just now via Xpesspost, will be there by friday!
Hopefully I get mail from cic next week :)

Good luck everyone!
