This quite possibly might be some of the worst advice I've seen given to someone who's facing an interview. Obviously the person should be honest, but that doesn't mean that preparing for what you're going to be facing isn't smart. I would want to know what kind of questions to expect, too.

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spousal-interview-questions-t157678.0.html

Those are some of the possible questions that could come up. There may be more, but that's what jumped to mind initially.

AGREED! best advice, preparation and honesty

Sent out photocopies of passport, new photos, and Annex A yesterday afternooon via Canada Post. I certainly hope turn around time is swift as I would ideally like to head to the. Order next week at some point. Good luck to all those in wait. The end is nigh.

Cheers.

I feel a certain closeness to quite a few on here (e.g. Knowledge101, sweethunkUSman...) if you guys were in Alberta I'd suggest we all celebrate over a few pints. Haha I'll be glad when this is over.

Oy, Stevin! I feel the same, but I'm stuck in Vancouver for now! We should start a thread for all the stuff we gotta go through next -- apply for driver's, medicare, my hubbie is looking for work, settling american ex-pats into full time canadian life etc etc, we an call it August 2016 alums or something (even though i snuck in as a September app)...

I have to wait for hubbie to show up tomorrow night before we get pics and send out to Ottawa. I'm already feeling terribly behind folks on this thread!!!! ahhhh!!! haha But, extra thanks to knowledge101 and richardlin for the help with the gmail annex A fiasco

Pics/Passport Photocopy/prepaid envelope & Annex A were received in Ottawa today! Now to see how fast the turnaround time is! Fingers crossed that it is speedy as we hope to go to the border the second weekend of February.

Im an October applicant but would totally be interested in helping out in this kind of thread too if you guys decide to do it :)

Hi Guys. I hope you can help me on this. My name in my passport and my name appearing in my Visa and COPR is quite different. My first name in my passport has a period in it (Ma.) but in my visa and COPR, its missing (Ma). Would I encounter problems in the immigration?

Same here! Now I am going crazy checking the tracking number for the pre-paid envelope going back! lol

FYI for anyone who is mailing in documents from the US via FedEx ground you MUST declare a value on the customs (at least $1) even for documents. I mailed them in with a $0 customs and was told by FedEx they can't process it like that. Either way I just had to fax in a new customs form so it shouldn't hold things up...

I would love to have a second thread! Unfortunately we might end up in Ottawa/Toronto (Not sure yet) so meeting up in person may not happen :(

My husband will likely be using FedEx for his documents as well. But are you talking about sending them all the required forms/documents or your prepaid envelope? Did you use FedEx as well for the prepaid envelope? or USPS?

I used FedEx both ways. You need to fill out the customs forms both ways as well. If you send it via FedEx Priority you don't need a customs form for documents, but if you are going Ground, you need to fill out a customs declaration each way. Just make sure if you do that, that you list the documents as $1 USD in value and originating country is USA. You shouldn't have a problem if you do that.

Perfect, thank you! Seriously, we all owe you a drink! or two!

Love love love your idea for a new thread. Like, what now, after CoPR. My fiancée has been in Canada with me since Aug 2015. Resumes have already been flying, he wants to work asap. We have to flagpole and export/import vehicle next week hopefully. The whole insurance thing was fun as we (for a week) could not get a Canadian insurance company to cover him since geico dropped him. Got that sorted. The company that he is financed through for the car won't release a letter of export till proof of insurance which we just obtained today. Hopefully CoPR sometime next week. Eeeeeee. Hang in there!
