Mine has been stuck in the mud too since December 7th. I'm not even at the background check yet.

Me too! Sad to see the week pass and still nothing.

I did call today though to confirm that my requested additional documents were received. So I guess that's at least one positive thing!

Let's all try to have a good weekend and hopefully next week will bring us all some good news!

No. As soon as he is granted PR he is eligible. How do I know? Cuz I work for Provincial Healthcare. So as soon as he gets the letter granting him PR apply for healthcare.

Hey Stevin I'm at the BC Cancer Agency under PHSA in BC! What do you do and where?

Actually it depends on which province you'll be living in. We're moving to BC and there you do have a 3 month wait period. So we have to arrange private insurance for those three months. I think there are two or three other provinces with the same wait period but don't know which ones.

We're in BC so I guess it's a 3 month wait for my hubbie too

I'm not sure that this is correct. I know that is not the case in Alberta. Please refer to this link: http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/health-drug-coverage/msp/bc-residents/eligibility-and-enrolment/are-you-eligible/applicants-for-permanent-resident-status. Which states "A spouse or child of an eligible B.C. resident may also be deemed a resident provided that an application for permanent residence status has been accepted for processing by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and the application remains active."

Reading down that link I found this "Ordinarily, the wait period for coverage for a spouse/child that is an applicant for permanent resident status consists of the balance of the month Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) accepts an application for permanent resident status, plus two months."

So a bit of a wait. Thanks for the perfect link!

Haha did you see what time I responded at? Yeah, thanks insomnia! Anyways when I was fully awake this morning I did some further reading and yes - it appears that I was incorrect. There is a wait period. I am in Alberta and my partner (who I am sponsoring) has Alberta Health coverage. Guess it is different from Province to Province.

Here is my timeline. I hope it gives an idea for anyone who is still waiting how much longer it will take.
My application was sent to HONG KONG office. And I did the body check before submitting my application (April 2016)
Good luck :)

Any updates August applicants? It's been 4 months and 2 weeks, more or less 8 months to go for the process... Wishing everyone a visa the soonest! Keep everyone posted! Thank you! :D :D :D

Hello everyone, happy new year...I hope everyone had a good holidays :)

I read about the health coverage discussion, my husband landed in November. We live in Ontario and he applied for his health coverage (OHIB) last month. He had to wait to apply for it until he got his driver's licence because they need a government issued ID with picture on it. He was told he has to wait for three month to be able to use the coverage. He landed on November 10th and he can use the OHIB starting on Feb 10. They gave him a paper which shows he is eligible for it. However, he will receive his card this month and he can start using it next month if he needs it. This is our experience in Ontario, probably other provinces have different policies. Good luck everyone :) Hope to hear good news from all of you soon...

I'm still waiting as well :)

I was asked for additional documents on December 9th. I sent them December 17th and got confirmation this past Friday that they were received. So just playing the waiting game once again!

Hmmm good to know. So when my husband lands the first thing he should apply for is his driver's licence right away?

Yeah! The hardest part is waiting and checking the status through eCAS and MyCIC and email as well. I am very positive that we will be getting positive updates February. I've noticed averaging 6 to 8 months of the application got their responses. So let us all be happy that February is approaching so fast. Good luck everyone, good luck August Applicants! PPR/Visa the soonest! :D :D :D

Aside from getting his Social Insurance Number (SIN), it is a good idea to get a driver's licence because it is a valid ID in Canada and everywhere you go, they ask for a photo ID.

Just got DECISION MADE at the moment! OMG! Happiness Overload! Check yours guys!!
