Hey fellow August applicants, Happy New Year and a heartfelt congratulations to everyone who has already landed, or been approved, been asked for a passport, is waiting for COPR, or even just has the ominous "background check in progress" status.

Can I kindly ask that no matter what stage you are at, if you haven't added yourself to the spreadsheet at all (I know there are more than 63 of us!) or if you haven't updated your info to reflect any recent progress to your timeline, it would be much appreciated if you would so all of us worry-warts can compare the data and wistfully imagine that our time is coming soon too ;D

!Thanks a million!

New Year is here and a new quota is on the table lets hope they start pushing us all through! :)

Great news!
Especially as I am coming out of the HKVO as well after applying one day before you. Mine was stalled, however, due to Quebec's delayed CSQ application. My eligibility is still at "review in progress".

In other news, finding prices dropping on Air Canada airfares we bit the bullet and took our chances at buying one way tickets from Shanghai to Ottawa @ $817 pp for May 31st.
Not bad considering that they were upwards of $1500 just 2 weeks ago. If they drop, it shouldn't be substantial, and in any case, at least we have additional "proof of intent" in regards to me returning to Canada.

The best of luck to us all...
Happy New Year!

Welcome! to the insanity thread!!!! being in background check has made the waiting harder, weird right? Anyway, I welcome the company. Since I'm in BC and I don't expect requests for docs, I'm going back to checking mycic once per week and just hanging out on here everyday. I'm going to guess I get a decision in February and COPR papers in March (I'm a Sept app).

Ive been checking periodically on ecas/cic/email and still shows me in background check. I keep thinking "anyday now" though I fear for my sanity if I dont hear anything within this month lol. Its just so close now I cant wait. I will say though it is nice to see movement on the message boards again. I was checking over the holiday break and the stagnancy was depressing. Hoping for good news for us all soon.

Hahaha, thank you!!
Right, someone told me background check in progress is the last step before DM and some people are getting it as soon as within a few days, but that doesn't seem to be the general case!
Is it necessary to check ECAS along with MYCIC? I only do MYCIC, rarely check ECAS.

That sounds like a good and hopefully realistic timeline.
I hope I can get mine sometime this month, otherwise I have to stop working or leave Canada as my Work Permit expires early March :(

A lot of us have been in background check since Mid-November. Normally it takes 2-4 weeks (some in a few days as you said but those are usually people with NEXUS). However given all the holidays and quota for last year likely was met earlier on, it has been 6 -7 weeks for some of that are waiting! So I'm PREDICTING a lot of us will get approved in the coming weeks....hoping for something soon! :o

I LOVE this prediction, you are a bright sun on this thread. And thanks everyone for coming back and saying hi, you are keeping me sane

Guys, I recently (5 months) moved to Canada as PR. I got married during this time. I started working for last 2 months. Can I sponsor my wife now? I am confused about my duration of staying in Canada and the job i am doing which gives me around 1500 dollar per month. In my situation am I eligible?
