Oh I would love to do that if it didn't actually endanger my residence application. You are technically studying without a permit. After all this years of waiting, I'll just wait another one. :(
At the end of the semester, the school gets a request from CIC for the academic standing of study permit holders. This is the only check they ever do. By the end of the semester you will have your study permit. Its your decision. I chose differently.

Thank you vonronge for the alternative! I guess I'm just too much of a chicken to try it :-[
I already stayed 'without status' once and they gave me a work permit anyways (I was honest about it to cic). So I really don't wanna test the limits.
I admire you anyways for your courage :D

Ask the university to roll over your admission to the winter semester. They can, and do, do that sometimes.

Well, they told me I could change my program and start on Winter. The career I wanna do only starts on fall so I would have to change programs twice. I'm looking into that option right now. We'll see how it goes. Thank you vonronge!

one last thing, if any of the courses are offered as an online option, you don't need a student visa to take those. Its in the VO's handbook somewhere but I am too lazy to look it up for you :-P

She needs a study permit if she wants to start studying before she is a PR. At this point it is too late to obtain a study permit for September.

And yes - she would need to be a full time student in order to be allowed to work while studying. If she is only a part time student, she is prohibited from working.

Hi Scylla,

Where does it say on CEC they prohibited a student from working while doing part-time studies.

Please provide the source.

Thanks,

Go to the cic website, under the STUDY part. It says you can work part-time IF you're studying full-time.
However, they told me when I called that if you have an owp, it doesn't get cancelled if you get a study permit, which would allow you to study part-time and work.
