ARRGGHHH you guys I am ready to explode right now! I just needed to let this out. I'm so frustrated.

My husband got his permanent residency on June 30th of this year. We provided photos that were exactly as specified in the email we got for our landing appointment.

Today (his 30th birthday no less!) we got an email saying our photos didn't meet the requirements and we have to send them within 60 days or his PR card will not be processed. What this means, I'm not really sure. I guess we'll have to pay for a new card if it doesn't get there in time, since my husband is already a permanent resident it's not like they'll take his PR away.. right??

I feel like I'm losing my mind. They changed the requirements on us and gave us NO opportunity to fix the error until we'd already been waiting almost 2 months for this damn card. We got an email with specific requirements on it June 27, got the photos taken and handed them in June 30, and now they are telling us it's no good. Even though we followed their directions exactly.

The worst part is that it's such a minor change that is COMPLETELY irrelevant to the photos. The ones we sent had the date, the name, and the address of the photography studio written on the back. Now they want the same photos with his birthday handwritten on the back too. That's literally the only change... like they couldn't see his birthday on file or anything???

I'm so frustrated. If CIC can't even provide up to date information (they sent us an outdated PDF with the photo requirements, as far as I can tell), how can they expect any applicant to know what the current requirements actually are? Are we supposed to question and triple-check every piece of information that comes in an official CIC email?

Gah. CIC really sucks sometimes. And we thought we were almost done! Not to mention this pending canada post strike that could royally screw us over.

Hey there dominokitty,

I understand your frustration as I have read about other people having to redo their photos too and they were feeling the same.

There is definitely room for improvement on CIC's part for this situation.

i realize it's frustrating. don't stress about them "taking away his pr". that is not going to happen because the pr card was not processed. he's approved for pr and has the right to get a card. it can take months to get the card. most provinces allow a person to do anything with just the copr and passport. the pr card really is not needed unless you are in BC and need to get permanent id cards or for commercial traveling purposes. it took me 6 months to get mine and there are many others with similar stories. he will get it. it will take some time.

Did they just change the photo requirements?? My husband landed July 6 and had no issue with the photos

It seems like they changed the requirements back in April (at least, that's the date on the bottom of the pdf we got this time) but were sending outdated PDFs to people with the wrong information on them through the landing interview email. Has your husband received his card already? Hopefully they don't make you redo it too. We just got the email yesterday.

Yes he did - he received it earlier this week (around 41 days since landing).

Doesn't seem very fair that you have to continue to wait when it was CIC that made the error in sending the wrong pdf form

Cic is doing a worst job this year..i know a friend who landed on 30th jan and there were no sign of his pr card even though he called them several time and then in june he got a call that your photos do not meet the requirement...after waiting for 5 months they are telling him that the photos are not right and send new one..this is such a high level of irresponsiblitiy.

We landed at the beginning of June and received PR card 54 days after landing.

When they requested your husband's passport, did they ask for new pictures then?

We didn't have to send a passport because my husband is from a visa-exempt country (Austria). The lady at the landing appointment said she thought the photos were fine... if only she were the one processing the card!!

Oh well. We mailed it away today with fingers crossed that his PR card doesn't get lost in a Canada Post strike. That would be awful.
