We also submitted the FBI records request back in January - it takes a month to get them
That's what I've been reading. That it's about a month turnaround time.

No problem! I have a thread for soon to be applying applicants. So if you have any more questions, I'd be more than glad to help! :)

hello, do we have to fill up this application A-1520-BF and include it inside the envelop to be send? A-1520-BF, like you said its a checklist, and some words i don't understand. im not fluent in french.

Yes, you have to include it. Also, there are certain forms that have to be send in French only. Application for selection certificate, Payment by credit card and Declaration of sponsor abroad - Family class, forms must be filled out in French. The English translations are included only to help you do so accurately.

I submitted all the forms in French just to be on the safe side... You can use the English forms to guide you and maybe ask a Francophone friend to help you. The forms are not complicated.

That is correct. No need for financial evaluation form if it's a spousal sponsorship. You need to submit the forms in Kit A: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/forms/search-title/undertaking-application/kit-a.html

Good luck!!

Sorry to butt in, but can someone explain what is CSQ? And a more serious question, if the sponsor lives in Ontario throughout the immigration application process, and needs to relocate to Quebec for work AFTER applicant lands as a PR, there is no problem with this? There is no time frame rule for applicant to stay in Ontario if sponsor has to move to Quebec (even a week after applicant obtains PR?).

Apologies if these questions derailed an interesting thread.

hmm i'm *pretty* sure the sponsored spouse needs the CSQ if you're going to relocate to Quebec. the CSQ is "certificat de selection du quebec" , and for sponsors living in Quebec, the principal applicant needs this in order to continue processing the residency application (even if they'll move away from Quebec).

maybe you should open a new thread and ask the question so that seniors can see it. pretty sure you need it tho.

In theory, an applicant can move about freely within in Canada after landing. In practice, the PR may face challenges relocating quickly to Québec after landing. I know I needed my CSQ for a few things - to get into free immigrant French classes, to exchange my US drivers license, and I think I needed it to get my carte soliel (health card), as well.

You don't need to submit the financial capacity evaluation if you are sponsoring your spouse or common law partner.
This form is needed only if you sponsor your father, mother, grandfather or grandmother etc.

You need to follow the "Kit A - without financial requirements" if you are sponsoring your spouse

Grr, my head is going to explode. The only reason we have not sent it yet was because of the financial form. With my poor french ( I'm the applicant) I thought we needed it as the checklist I read and reread sounds like I do. We finally got hubby's QPIP ( he's on paternity leave) payments so I could fill it out. I'm so confused. Sorry if I sound dumb, I'm relearning French and my hubby speaks better French than he reads it. Ugh, just can't wait till this is over.

No worries, this whole immigration process is overwhelming… We are all in the same boat :)
You don't need the financial evaluation form if it is a spousal sponsorship. The document checklist is a general form and it notifies you that you should include the financial form if it is applicable to you (in your case it is not applicable, so you don't need to submit this form)

We haven't looked at the Quebec stuff as of yet either. Is it mostly straight forward? My husband is better at speaking than reading French as well.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. ;D Yup it's a spousal so I am relieved. I was so annoyed. I have everything else except to copy his passport and driver's license to verify address and citizenship. it's all together otherwise. So it's going out at some point Tuesday, his aunt has a copier.
