Hello All,

I want to notify those who are planning to apply to Quebec. There is a new version of documents checklist "Documents soumis à l’appui de la demande d’engagement". Currently, it is only available in French.

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/parrainage/A-1520-BF-dyn.pdf

I have just discovered it and wanted to share, just in case... ;)

good to know, nice of you to share it with us! i'm applying through Quebec too! thanks a bunch! :-*

also is it just me or the forms & documents to submit about sponsor's financial status is way way more complicated than general Canada people? ???

i bet it will be a bitch to get all that and complete so many forms ...

thanks for this! I hadn't even realized there was a separate Quebec checklist! I haven't gotten that far!

Note: Just to clarify, this is all related to the request for the CSQ, which doesn't have to be (CAN'T be) done until CIC sends you a letter requesting it. That letter from CIC is mentioned in the checklist, as it is a requirement to get your CSQ as a sponsored member of the family class. This changes nothing about the actual sponsorship and principal applicant documents that you put together for your PR app initially.

I just glanced over it, and it doesn't seem like there are *TOO* many hoops to jump through. Doesn't look like it has changed much since I did mine back in early 2013. I know we were easily able to gather everything in a single day (nothing we had to request from another entity, etc).

I do find it a bit frustrating that the English version is not yet available to people. ??? Back when I did it, they were clear that you had to fill out and send in the French version, but they at least provided an English version as a guide. Useful for those of us who speak NO French when we apply!

I'm not one of those "bad" Anglophones who moved to Québec and refuses to learn the language. I've done everything I can and worked very hard (including taking the MICC francisation courses, which I'll finish a week from tomorrow) to learn French, and I'm pretty functional now, not quite two years after the move (and about a year and a half after I first really started to learn French). But it doesn't happen overnight.

I find the people of Québec to be lovely people, friendly, patient, helpful, and very VERY encouraging when it comes to my effort to learn French. The government, however....sometimes I think they need to set a large fire and start over from the ashy base.

You don't need to submit the financial capacity evaluation if you are sponsoring your spouse or common law partner.
This form is needed only if you sponsor your father, mother, grandfather or grandmother etc.

You need to follow the "Kit A - without financial requirements" if you are sponsoring your spouse

You're welcome! I submitted my application to CIC last week, since the waiting time is 34 days now I started working on the Quebec papers. So hopefully when I get the sponsorship approved from CIC, I will send out my CSQ application right away :)

Good luck with your application!

Good luck to you as well!
We're hoping to submit by June. We're slow pokes D:
Sending off fingerprints to the FBI tomorrow!

Hi, my boyfriend is from Toronto but he works in Montreal and I will be joining him here. Does this mean I have to go through this process as a QC applicant?

Does he LIVE in Montreal and will you be living in Montreal once you land?
If yes, then yes you have to apply through Quebec as well. If you'll be living in Toronto together, then no.

thank you Mrs.KOR :) we plan on submitting next week to CIC.

i have a question though - i saw in the checklist that you need to also enclose a letter from MICC inviting you to submit your CSQ demand? is that true? i wonder how fast they move with that e-mail ??? - would be nice to submit the undertaking app right away after CIC approval..

You must submit a letter from CIC to MICC (Québec's immigration ministry) to request your CSQ from MICC. MICC will not issue the CSQ without that letter from CIC. You just have to wait for CIC to get your application packet, check it out, and send you that letter asking for the CSQ. Then you can do the undertaking.

woopsie ! thanks QuebecOkie - yeah i assumed that too, it's just that on the checklist they asked for TWO letters - but they mention only enclosing one :-[ sorry, CIC-related paranoia is definitely controlling my brain since this whole immigration thing ;D

Yes, he lives in Montreal and I will be living in Montreal once I land. Thanks for the help!

We also submitted the FBI records request back in January - it takes a month to get them

You cannot send your CSQ application before you get the approval from CIC.
So, first send the SA application to CIC. Once it's approved, CIC will send you the confirmation by mail or email.
You can then submit the CSQ application. You have to include that approval letter from CIC in your CSQ application, it is a must.
