Dear forum members,
After getting my passport and copr I thought lets enjoy the week end as a PR so thought of landing on friday evening i.e 3rd-june-2016. I saw the youtube video noted each details so that i can take U turn at peace bridge and do my PR landing.

But to my surprise I came to know that they are not allowing this anymore. so my first attempt for Landing got failed. Same happened to some more families/person who came for the same purpose taking U turns.

mood was upset so first had my dinner at McDonald bcoz my son love happy meal. then we though lets not waste one more day for the same and we drove upto the US border. It doesn't matter you have US visa or not you can tell them and you will be given a letter and return to canada border. you will then allowed to do PR landing. I did the same all though we have US visa we told the officier at US border that we came just for PR landing. he didn't issue any I-94 he just handed over me the letter and showed me from where i can turn back to canada border.

PR landing was 10 min after that.

Later when i read the letter sent by CIC in that its clearly mentioned that if you are already in canada then either you can do Pr landing by fixing appointment at some office don't remember the name of the office or you must have to go out of the country and enter back.

I saw many people were doing this mistake yesterday so i thought i will put this in the forum to make all aware.

U-Turns have been disallowed for some time. You must go to the CBP and get the Administrative Refusal document now.

I need to do my landing at the US border near Niagara. Can you post what's the process for that?

Same thing. Go to the USA border and get the refusal document. Then come back to the Canadian border to "land".

Just be curious. Is U turn allowed before? I learned that LANDING must be done after a FLAGPOLING from the US border, which means you have to enter the US, tell the officer that you come for flagpoling, be refused to enter the US, and then drive back to the Canadian Border Office to LAND. I did not search for more information, but I don't know that it is possible to take just a U-turn to land before.

whether was ever allowed before not really relevant as not allowed now and should be a lesson to not always believe anything on youtube or social media and in some instances even on forums.

By doing the US administrative refusal you are in effect formally completing the exit from Canada wheras a u turn before even getting to US immigration technically not leaving Canada which would be the issue as how can you land when you did not really leave.
