Thanks for sending me story about indian couple, in Ontario prenatal services cheaper, as per my understanding medical care in all Canada should have the same medical rates? Am I right? Lady delivered twins and was charged only 22, 000/ Why BC has high rates?

I looked over legal services web site and found that I should be in BC, I cannot apply for legal services from third country?

Regarding ombudsperson, as per web site they are investigating MSP as well.

How do u think? What can I do from third country? I looked over bankruptcanada-canadians living in abroad (Can PR consider himself as canadian or not), where is mentioned that person can re-establish residensy in Canada and then go bankrupt, do they mean that if my PR will expiry I can get again PR becouse of debt?

Do you think that best way to hire trustee and start bankrupt procedure? In this case I should not live in BC.

Leon, I cannot just forget my debt, I have to try to close it or reduce debt cost. To run from problem is not a decision. I believe that any circumstances in the life has a decision. I am so much appreciate your efforts to help us. Million Thanks Leon.

You should talk to a lawyer whether you try to use legal aid or get your own lawyer. Find out what your options are. Can you dispute this debt or can you file bankruptcy on the debt. Your PR status has nothing to do with debts. As long as you meet the residency requirements of 730 days in 5 years, you can apply to renew.

Even if the legal aid website says you must be in BC, you can still send them a question and say that you did live in BC and are about to move back. You should definitely send a question to the Ombudsman.

hi Leon do u have any idea how they(RAMQ.OHIP etc) check on minimum stay (183 days) requirements.

Hi shekhawatmx,

If you had medical expences during your first 6 month, they will send you letter to prove your residency. In case you did not use any medical services, I believe you should not worry.

They have landing records, better to be honest in case OHIP will contact you.

Each province may do things differently and some may check more than others and some not at all. I had medical expenses in my first 6 months on OHIP and they never sent me a letter. Maybe they check on people randomly or based on how high their bills were or based on some sort of a suspicion that they have left.

I know that RAMQ normally covers pregancy and delivery without a waiting period but I heard of one case of them refusing a woman coverage because she had landed in QC and had a baby before, her first child and when she came back a couple of years later to have the 2nd child, they said no. They would not pay for the 2nd time as she had not stayed in QC. I do not know how they knew that she did not stay in QC. Maybe she told them.

Dear Leon,

I was sending emails to lawyers but still I did not receive proper responds. The main problem is that I do not have accurate figure on my hand. Bill still was not sent to my postal address. I will keep you update, thanks alot for your support and advises.
