I'm curious if this step is needed IRCC automatically performs name-based criminal records checks on ALL applicants. Fingerprint-based RCMP checks are only required if a record is returned on the name-based check. I have an appointment for this but I'm not sure I need it.

If your name is flagged in that it sounds similar or is similar to a name in their database, IRCC will request the RCMP PCC and fingerprints.
Hello, here's my timeline and I just got my PR. I wanna share the luck with everyone. It's really been a long journey and a hard time waiting for this final piece. We all share the same feelings.
