My room mate applied citizenship last Friday

He applied by immigration lawyer

His lawyer said he should add vacation address

Recently there was a post and you said we should not add vacation address

He's actually better off doing it himself. Most of the things a lawyer would tell you are in the instruction guide. Some of them tell you the wrong thing entirely. If his case is pretty straight forward, I wouldn't retain a lawyer. In the address portion of the form it asks only for the residential and/or work addresses NOT vacation addresses. It only requests the name of any country you spent more than 183 days in. Seniors can correct me as always but when I did the form, it did not seem to need a vacation address.

I have not added my vacation address. My wife was on vacation for 3 months in her home country which is a significant amount.

I am fairly confident that I have done the right thing. However, I would not call the lawyer wrong. If you put it, it wont be an issue. but from my interpretation, it is not required.

dont apply via so called lawyers & consultants, the form is straight forward easy and if anybody has issue can call CIC themselves which will guard you through and give crystal clear answer.

CIC dont even mind residency or vacation shorter than 183 but:

you just fill hotel or home addresses you been outside the country during your eligibillity period because the last thing you want i CBSA crosscheck tell another story YED and you click NO and been outside than your app is deemed returned or worse rejected.

i have been to London UK 7 days watching Chelsea v Manu but have put that stay and hotel adress knowingly they will get that info from CBSA.

Travelling to UK for 7 days doesn't mean you lived there. I would advise anyone to stick to the instruction guide and put addresses where applicant lived during the eligibility period. If you have travelled during the EP then your residency calculator should be the one reflecting that, not your addresses. My two cents

I had changed my last name to my husband's first name on one document in my home country but then before that process would have been completed we had separated, therefore I did not change my last name anywhere else. After divorce I had changed my last name to my maiden name again in home country on that one document where I had changed it. Should I check legal name change as YES?

Another question as well please; during my eligibility period I had visited back home on work permit for 16 days, do I count it as residing outside Canada. Should I check Yes or No?

if the document was issued with a changed name and you re-changed the name on that document, and you are using that document for application now, then you should declare it. doesnt matter if the process was completed or not, the fact that this document was issued to *you* with different names means if you dont declare, you are hiding information.

16 days is not residing. you should declare that in your residency calculator. but answer No to this question.

no document numbers required. CIC can access everything from your UCI if they need. in general, just answer what is asked, do not give unnecessary information. that can be confusing and irritating for the officer handling your file.
