I've visited Bulgaria, and recall that things are a bit difficult there for some minority groups, especially Rom. We heard some vitriolic comments about them from Bulgarians there, and it's hard to imagine that with those attitudes so rampant it wouldn't result in a degree of discrimination. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions that you can't be a refugee from Bulgaria.canvis2006 said:The PA applied for refugee claim after arriving from Bulgaria. Bulgaria is not a war-torn country and seems to be ok in terms of stability, it is just the people are poor and in bad shape financially.
But filing a refugee claim in Canada shows that the PA is interested in living in Canada permanently. I guess they managed to get in as a visitor and then filed the claim. Then CIC seems that the PA got married within 3 months. So they are thinking on the lines that.....this PA is doing everything possible to stay/get PR in Canada........so that's why they are taking their time and investigating this case (PA) very closely. Once they complete this file will return to regular procedure....
It IS frustrating but you can keep giving them proof that you're in a real happy marriage and its not just for her to obtain permanent residency in Canada. Remember you're not the only one there are thousands that go through this. I suggest you go to a more reputable law firm so they can give you a more realistic timeline and process flowchart
Of course, CIC may well be thinking what you're thinking.
