Hey everyone, so I have my hearing in Oct and I have some few questions to ask about and bellow is my current situation:
- I don't have a passport, I only have a document from the country I was living in as a refugee too (Stateless).
- I have applied for asylum after 5 months in Canada, cause of a threat over my life and tried to solve the issue during that time.
So, the only document I were able to provide besides my story, is a witness (My brother) that assured my life was in danger in the country I was in.
What do you think about the giving information, are they enough? are my chances bad ? this is all what I could provide.

You must be able to provide evidence to support your story otherwise this generally makes your case very weak. Do you have police records or something like that you can provide to help prove your story. Are you working with a lawyer?

How did you enter Canada five months ago, they will need to prove your identity during eligibility and before the hearing. Of course there is country of reference for the stateless as per the guidelines, assuming there is no record during your entry to Canada from the CBSA. You need to support your case with evidence from your BOC narrative, your brother can be a witness and you should inform tribunal at least 10days before the hearing;

At least 10 days before your hearing, you must give the RPD the following information about each witness, in writing:

  • their contact information (address, telephone number and fax number);
  • a short statement on the purpose of their testimony and what it will be about;
  • how long their testimony will take;
  • your relationship to the witness;
  • whether you want them to testify in person, by videoconference or by telephone; and
  • whether they need an interpreter, and if so, the language and dialect they will use.

Somewhat depends on the country. If you are from a know. Group that has been targeted in general. If you case involves you specifically then having no evidence is a disadvantage although no a guaranteed negative decision. You mention your brother is your evidence. Is he in Canada as well? Did he apply for asylum as well? Does he have similar case? It can sometimes become complicated if both siblings apply and declare that they were each specifically targeted for a certain reason. Best to follow your lawyer’s advise. Without more information we can’t really comment. In general, the more concrete proof the better. newspaper atricles, pictures, scars if you were hurt, etc.

After looking back at your posts it appears you are Jordanian which is not a country with a large number of people claiming asylum around the world so it isn’t a case where the need for a lot of evidence is required like in cases from Afghsnistan, Eritrea, etc.
