Am a transgender woman in Nigeria my neighbor find out am trans on social media since then have been receiving death threats
My life is in danger
I'm sorry for your situation.

It's not possible for you to claim asylum in Canada from Nigeria.

You would need to obtain a TRV (tourist visa) to Canada, fly to Canada, and then claim asylum once you are here.

I would hire a good immigration lawyer in Canada to help you with your case before you apply for asylum. Your case is complex since you are married and have a child. There is a risk / danger that it may be perceived you are fabricating your story to obtain PR in Canada. A lawyer will be in the best position to assist you in putting your case together, assessing if you have the evidence needed, and telling you what your chances are of success.

Have you looked at all into the Express Entry economic immigration program to see if you qualify? If you have the right education / work experience, that would be a much faster path and pretty much guaranteed (if you have enough points to be selected).
What are the possible evidences one can provide for such claims

It depends on the specifics of the claim. You might be best off consulting with a lawyer if you are not sure.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Yes,I don't mind engaging a good immigration lawyer. I equal wouldn't mind if you or anyone can suggest/ recommend a good immigration lawyer.

The Express entry is based on point system, our age and level of education has drop our points,so we do not qualify for this.
thinking of same thing, did you get it

I'm a Nigerian and I am gay. Just got beaten up for approaching a male student, I'm a student too. I'm penniless and in danger of either forceful gay conversion therapy or death. I don't want to go deep into the details of what happened now. I'm begging you guys how do I apply for asylum? Please?

I know that you guys will certainly ask for evidence, being that many Nigerians who are actually homophobic and not gay have used this leeway to enter Canada's territory. But I'm not lying and if evidence is required I guess I can present them physically. And one may ask why Canada? Why not South Africa? Cause I want to settle down, I want to be a Canadian, I want to read and study in Canada, I want to be able to get married to the man I love, I don't want to live in another state where Nigerians are close enough to disrupt my life. I want to experience true democracy, not this rubbish we practice in Africa, I want the good things of life, and above all I want to proudly say that I'm gay. I want to be able to contribute to the growth of Canada being an Anglophile myself.
I know that things are hard, and many a Canadian is wary of us immigrants and our characters but I vow to be different. And I'm committed to being a patriotic citizen if Canada accepts me for who I'm

You apply when you enter Canada through immigration at the airport. So you would need to get a TRV to enter Canada. To do so you need to show cash in the bank to support travel to Canada (around $10k CDN), travel history to UK, US, NZ or AUS, ties to return (job letter, property, business). Getting a TRV is difficult because Nigeria has the highest number of asylum seekers to Canada which is what you are doing. So make sure you have written/email documentation and that you have moved within Nigeria several times.

Do you have a valid TRV/tourist visa for Canada? You would need to fly to Canada first and then claim asylum once you arrive.

So I can't claim asylum at the embassy? Will they refuse giving me a Visa if they know the real reason I'm heading to Canada?

No, you can't claim asylum at the embassy.

Yes, you should expect a visa will be refused if they know the real reason why you have applied for one. For a TRV to be approved, you need to show that you are a genuine visitor and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. You want to show evidence of ties such as employment and property ownership if possible. You must also show you have sufficient saving to pay for your visit to Canada.

If you don’t have a visa you cannot just go to a Canadian embassy and claim it. You will not even be allowed in the embassy. You need to be in Canada to do so. For TRV, you need to show funds (around $10k), ties to return (job letter with approved leave, children/spouse, business registration etc.) and extensive travel history.

You are from a country with the highest rates of asylum claims so you need a very strong profile.

As one gay man speaking to another gay man .

You can’t be that much in danger if you’re being selective of the country you want to go to. And you are focused on ONE country . Tbh , that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever when one states they are in danger

There’s all of Europe a lot closer than Canada that have higher ratings from Freedom House than Canada does
And cheaper to get to since you state you have no funds

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBTQ_rights_by_country_or_territory

The Nordic countries have higher democracy ratings than Canada

https://freedomhouse.org/

Being from that community, I always find it peculiar on why everyone focuses on Canada for safety / asylum when 9 out 10 times there are countries FAR FAR closer one could seek refuge in

Its odd isn’t it ?

Thank you, unfortunately I guess I have no chance. Thanks for the time you took off your duties to educate me on the necessary requirements. I'm grateful, may your life always be what you will it to be. Thank you again.
