Hello people,

My husband is trying to get in one of the Universities at Canada for his MS Program. I want to relocate with him, I currently work as a Technical IT Recruiter in one of the well known IT Company with close to 7 years work experience I am getting a decent salary.

Please help me getting specific answers to following questions...

1. How likely it is for me to get a open work permit available on Student's dependent visa?
2. Does the work permit comes with any conditions?
3. Do I need to find an employer before hand to apply for work permit as a Student's dependent?
4. Any idea about how much credit worthiness my husband has to show to bring a dependent to Canada? And will the money need to be shown reduces if I apply for work permit, as I will be independent worker not just a dependent?
5. My current company has a branch in Toronto Canada. I want to check with them if they can transfer me to Canada. But I don't want to alarm them about me leaving the job right now. Is transfer from a Company in India to it's branch at Canada will be smooth compared to applying for open work permit? Is there a standard process for transfer?
6. How is the IT market in Canada? Will I easily get a job there? How much salary can I expect with an average employer there for a recruiter job and my experience?

Your answers will help me a lot in understanding the possibilities better. Thanks in advance.

1. If you get to Canada, and he attends a Designated School and the course is for more that 6 months, then it will be issued.
2. Yes, you can't work in child care, schools etc. unless you have a medical.
3. No.
4. He still has to show the first year tuition plus $14K in living expenses and $2/3K for travel expenses. You being eligible for a job has no bearing.
5. Unless you are in a managerial position or have "specialized knowledge" you won't be eligible for ICT. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/opinion/transferees/knowledge.asp

Hi PMM thanks for specific answers. In lieu of Credit Worthiness what are all the documents considered valid? Is a savings bank balance alone is sufficient? Because my husband has no fixed properties in his name. But both his parents have and they are ready to provide letters acknowledging the same. I have a property in my name, will that do?

Should I have to apply for OWP along with my husband's study visa or I should wait for him to get his visa approved first? Which is more favorable?

How are the chances of rejection? And if OWP is rejected can I still travel as my husband's dependent and apply for OWP from Canada? Is there a chance to reject the option of travelling as dependent without work permit as well? Please assist.
