Hello everyone,

I am a Jamaican who is currently living in Japan, I've been here for 4 years and since i've been here I've found the career path which I'd like to pursue - Social work, and I would like to study in Canada. I have gotten into a 2 year social work diploma programme which would begin September 2019 (So next year), and prior to this I had enrolled in an online 4 year B.A Psychology programme at a reputable American University, where I got 2 years knocked off because I already had a degree so I was processed as a transfer, and I finished in 1 year after doing 6 courses every semester, I graduate with a 3.97 GPA, I also have saved 40,000 CAD.
I am worried that I might not be granted the Study visa because in 2016, I had applied for a tourist visa because I wanted to look at the different universities available and get a feel of what it was like since I had intentions of studying there. My visa was denied twice, first for not showing sufficient information about why I wanted to travel and for not having enough money, I put some more money in my account, and I was denied the second time for not having enough funds to travel. I am worried that these will be strikes against me as I prepare to apply for my visa next year. I fully intend to go back to Jamaica, I've been gone for 5 years (one in the states, four in Japan) and I miss my family sorely, but I also know the education provided in Canada is accepted as that of a higher standard than the one provided in Jamaica, I already have a job lined up for me as a school counselor when I go back home.
I'm also very worried because there is no visa office in Japan, so there would be no face to face interview, I won't be able to explain myself or any questions they have fully. Help please.

Edit... I should note that prior to coming to Japan I received my BSc. in Hotel Management from a University in my home country... So my journey was B.Sc. Hotel Management Jamaica (2013)- One year Hotel Management Internship in the states (2014) - Japan (I'm a teacher here) and I received my degree, Summa Cum Laude in Psychology in April.

There is nothin you can really do about your previous refusals. The fact that you haven't lived in Jamaica for 5 years will be a big issue since you will have difficulty showing strong ties to your home country.

I understand, thank you for your response. I guess I'll apply and let the chips fall where they may

Hi Marie85
Did they ask questions about your home country's ties?
I am applying from Japan. I have been staying here for the last 3 years.
I am an Indian citizen.
