Asking for extension

Hi All
I want to ask if it is possible to ask for an extension once you are asked to submit the documents within 4 months? If yes, then please how!
One might wonder why to ask for an extension, the answer is for one of the following reasons:
1. to improve IELTS score
2. to collect transcripts from universities in different countries in a sealed envelope
2. to get police clearances from more than 4 different countries

The bottom line is how to get an extensin?

Any response is highly appreciated

Write them outlining the problems and the reason needed for more time
Include an estimate of when you expect to get the documents. They are reasonable people.

I did ask for an extension and was granted one but this was for submission of passports for visa stamping. I was working outside my home country whereas my case was being processed in my home country. I asked for more time citing that some family friend was leaving for my home country and that he would be carrying my passports. But ultimately my passports reached CHC only about 10 days late! Hope that helps. Good Luck!
