Hi Asivad,

I know a lot of discussion has already been done about PoF on this forum, still doubts regarding PoF keep poping up, especially seeing the level of scrutiny and strictness CIC is showing in assessing the PoF thing:

1. As with many applicants, out of those $12000, I am taking $10000 from my dad, along with the affidavit of support from him, plus all the bank proofs that transfer has actually occurred from his account to mine. Currently I live in Canada. My question is:

Since I would be taking $10000 from my father, will it be more appropriate for me to get this money in my account back in India and attach all the proofs of fund transfer (this account was opened in July 2009, but never used until now, and $10000 would be almost the first credit in it)

OR

Ask my dad to send these $10000 into my account in Canada here (which was opened in Dec 2014 and I use that account on a daily basis)

Which out of the two options sound more convincing of the fact that the funds being given to me by my dad will actually be used by me only and will not be returned to him? Or are both the options equivalent?

2. I searched out all the threads to reach to where you mentioned about the letter the Immigration officer wrote to you regarding your PoF. It states something like "You have so and so balance and a letter from your dad saying that he has given you this money, 'but no supporting documents' have been attached"

With this, are they are hinting towards the lack of fund transfer documents from your dad's account to yours?

If yes, can we assume that they had objection only on the fact that you did not attach proof of the fact that your dad actually transmitted you these funds and not on the fact that your father has gifted you this money?

(Please don't think that I am trying to over kill the situation, just trying to get into CIC's mind as to what is their opinion about gift from parents)

3. I lent my friend $2000 in Nov 2014 (Fortunately I have a pic of the cheque which I signed for him). He is also willing to give me his bank statement showing a credit of $2000 via that cheque. Can I get this money back from him now, likewise attach a proof of transfer, and show this $2000 coming back as PoF? OR can VO suspect it as something illegitimate?

(P.S. I have closed the bank account of which I signed my friend a cheque described above, would that be ok if in case I can use the above plan in showcasing PoF?)

4. As I want to showcase PoF, I am thinking of all receivables that are due to me from other ppl. I gave my friend $700 a few months ago via cash. Can I get that money from him in my bank account as a cheque and showcase as PoF?

Likewise, I have like $600-$700 cash with me which I always maintain. Can I also put that into account to show for PoF?

Sorry for lots of questions

Thanks in advance!

Hi Asivad,

Both are equivalent. It doesn't matter to CIC where you bank any gifts. All they are concerned about is ensuring that it is a gift not a loan.

2. I searched out all the threads to reach to where you mentioned about the letter the Immigration officer wrote to you regarding your PoF. It states something like "You have so and so balance and a letter from your dad saying that he has given you this money, 'but no supporting documents' have been attached"

Yes. As I mentioned in those posts, I suspect the LOE did not make it or wasn't convincing enough. Attach evidences of actual transfer of monies beyond just giving wire transfer reference numbers.

This is dicier than the previous case because this will require more evidences than the previous case as it is a friend not a blood relative. Do it only as a last resort.

4. As I want to showcase PoF, I am thinking of all receivables that are due to me from other ppl. I gave my friend $700 a few months ago via cash. Can I get that money from him in my bank account as a cheque and showcase as PoF?

Dicey but small amount, not a problem. Stagger these deposits (this one and the one below) over the next few weeks instead of showing up as one fat deposit of 13/1400 CAD.

Likewise, I have like $600-$700 cash with me which I always maintain. Can I also put that into account to show for PoF?

Yes. Not a problem.

Sorry for lots of questions

Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot brother. A few came into my mind just now:

1. My application is due on Oct 6, 2015. Is it the right time to go for medicals now? Which documents need to be taken and do I need to tell the doctor that this medical is for PR and not a Temporary Visa? After the medical has been done, do they tell me whether everything is ok or do they just mail the results to CIC and just give me the receipt that a medical has been done?

2. Would it be ok if I pay the landing fee later on, when the application is approved, rather than paying it upfront? (As I will then put that money towards PoF). Would the only difference be that in case my application is approved, in addition to PPR, they will ask me to pay the landing fee at that time, if I not pay it upfront?

3. The credit card with which I pay the application fee has necessarily to be on my name? The question might sound stupid, but I found this rule a couple of times when I paid for some online things/services in Canada.

4. I have recently finished MBA from University of Alberta and my Study Permit and Visa expired on July 31, 2015. I got PGWP on July 27, 2015. I have not yet applied for a new visa (corresponding to PGWP). Would that be fine if I send the scan copy of my passport without a current valid visa, provided I am currently living in Canada? OR do I need to extend my visa, prior to applying?

5. Out of all the documents which we will submit (Education proofs, work ex letters, salary slips, passport copy, PoF bank letters, medical certificate, LOEs, Declaration of father about PoF etc), which need to be notarized?

6. Just like all the other documents, do I need to send the PCC from India as a scanned copy? I am asking this because I don't know why, I have seen someone writing here 'I am getting my PCC couriered to me from my home country)

Thanks in advance

Schedule it close to application submission date. Clinic will tell you what documents to bring for the test. Inform them that this is an upfront exam for PR purposes. Clinic won't tell you the results, you will only get a 1 pager confirmation which you will upload as part of your application.

2. Would it be ok if I pay the landing fee later on, when the application is approved, rather than paying it upfront? (As I will then put that money towards PoF). You can pay RPRF upfront or later, doesn't matter.

3. The credit card with which I pay the application fee has necessarily to be on my name? The question might sound stupid, but I found this rule a couple of times when I paid for some online things/services in Canada.

Not necessarily.

4. I have recently finished MBA from University of Alberta and my Study Permit and Visa expired on July 31, 2015. I got PGWP on July 27, 2015. CIC doesn't ask for visa stamping/markings to be uploaded. Just the bio data pages.

5. Out of all the documents which we will submit (Education proofs, work ex letters, salary slips, passport copy, PoF bank letters, medical certificate, LOEs, Declaration of father about PoF etc), which need to be notarized?

Only those documents whose authenticity is questionable. Work experience letters which are not on company letterhead, for instance.

6. Just like all the other documents, do I need to send the PCC from India as a scanned copy? I am asking this because I don't know why, I have seen someone writing here 'I am getting my PCC couriered to me from my home country)

Scanned copy is fine. You don't need physical copies in EE.

Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot Asivad.

I presume you might have got ITA in the recent draw, and might be planning to apply soon? Best of luck to you!
