Hi,

I used to be a student in Canada for last 3 years, but I already finished my study in Feb this year, after that, I left Canada and went back home. However, I have a boyfirend there, he is a Canadian, we are planning to get married in May. I am from Visa exampt country, so I am going back to Canada on March15 as a visitor, because we need to plan some wedding stuff there.

how should I tell the custom the reason when I am back to Canada this time? Sould I tell them the truth that I am back to marry? or should I just tell them I am back to visit my boyfirend? Please give me some advice, I apprecaite your answers!

If they ask the reason for your visit, tell them you are here to visit your boyfriend .If they puss tell them them that you are making wedding plans. My husband came in Dec and he told them he was getting married here. Good luck

If they ask specific questions, answer them honestly. It's not illegal to get married in Canada, so don't try to hide it if they ask. They can and will search through your bag and phone if they suspect you aren't being honest with them.

The main thing is to convince them that after your stay as a visitor, you will return home. Best proof of this is a return airplane ticket dated for a max of 6 months later. Of course you can also apply to extend your stay just before your current status is expired.

People from visa exempt countries dont need to be coy about coming to Canada to get married. Only people from non-visa exempt countries have to be a bit careful about what they say and can be turned away if they are planning to get married.

I was worried about that too when I visited my boyfriend (now husband) last august....I just said I was going to visit my boyfriend...they asked me his name, his address, how long we were together and that was it...we got married in September...you shouldn't have a lot of problems i think...just answer what they ask of you...
