Is it large file? I usually compress the files to make them under 5MB or reduce the resolution when scanning.

It is fastest if you respond and attached to the email with the request and ask for an acknowledgement. The other option which is slower is to use the webform...

so when IRCC requests for additional Docs for mailed in applicants, they include an email address that you should send it to in email sent to you requesting for the Doc. check the email properly.
