Hi
Can anyone help me to answer the following questions?
Which immigration office does Aruba fall under? (For work permit application)
Do I need a tourist visa? (Aruba is a Dutch colony, so we have Dutch paspoorts)
Do I need a letter from my friend stating that she has invited me to come visit her in Kitchener?
How much money is enough money to satisfy immigration? And how do you prove this? (Bank statement?)
If I were to get a legitimate job in Canada while on a tourist visa, what should I do next?
Is a work contract enough to satisfy immigration to grant me some kind of work visa?
What kind of visa would I be eligable for?
Can I apply to send for my children on a work visa?

I know these are a lot of questions but I would really appreciate answers and tips!

Hi

I'll try to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

1. Visa office for Aruba is Mexico City.

2. No tourist visa needed, Dutch passport is visa-exempt

3. No invitation letter from your friend is needed to visit Canada

4. CIC doesn't specify the amount of money required. Depends on how long you are staying, if you are staying with your friend or in a hotel, if you are travelling around a bit etc.

5. You can't just get a job in Canada. To be able to hire you, an employer must have a positive Labour Market Opinion (LMO); this is permission from the government to hire you instead of a Canadian. It is extremely difficult to find an employer willing to go through this process. On top of that, as you won't have legal status to work, most employers won't even bother to meet with you.

6. As said above, you would need a positive LMO, as well as the offer of employment. With those, you can apply for a work permit at the point of entry into Canada; this means that have to leave the country and re-enter.

7. Provided you can get a job offer and the LMO, you can get a closed work permit specific only to that job.

8. I'm not familiar with bringing kids over on a work visa. I do know that if you want them to be able to live here and go to school, they will need study permits and you may have to pay fees.

It does sound as if you want to come to Canada long-term, not just to visit. I will stress that it is very, very difficult for a visitor to come to Canada, get a job with a positive LMO and get a work permit. You should have a look at some of the different immigrations streams to see if you qualify

Thank you so much sir for your help!

You guessed it right...we want to move there because our eldest daughter has autism and adhd. Aruba does not have the special education or care for these children but we know Canada is the leading country in this aspect. So we want to give our daughter a better life.

It's my friend that recommended my husband and I visit Canada first as tourist (which we've always wanted to do!) and while there we look for jobs. When our two weeks are up and we have jobs, we go home and apply for work visas and whatever document is needed to get my daughters in as well.

What do you think of this plan?

I will be brutally honest, plan likely wont work. Also Canada is very strict on keeping out people who may be a burden to the health care system. They don't give PR status to people who would require extensive medical care, as the system is always short of funds with huge wait times. Your daughter is exactly the kind of people they don't want.

Sorry and there is no way you can just get a job in 2 weeks! Even if an employer wants to hire you they have o show they can't find any Canadians or PR residents to do the job, employers don't want to bother with that, it is time consuming and costly. Plus Canada has lots of unemployed Canadians so its hard for employers to justify LMO, program has also come under increased scrutiny.

Your friend is giving you bad advice, you can't just get a job as a visitor system is designed to prevent that.

Take your daughter to Holland they have a world class health care system. As EU citizens you have full access to top notch care anywhere in the EU.

I agree with the above poster on all points. There is pretty much zero chance of either you or your husband finding a job in a 2 week visit, let alone both of you.

And yes, if your daughter's health problems are determined as placing excessive demand on the Canadian health system, she and the entire family would be denied.

Do as AAL1984 suggested and move to Holland or another EU country with a good medical system.
