Are there landing restrictions?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if there are time restrictions on when we can land? I know my boarder crossing is opened 24/7, so does that literally mean I can land any time of the day? Or are there certain hours associated with each place? I could't find an answer to this. I plan to land this weekend but I want to make sure someone will be able to process my paperwork and stamp my goods to follow list.

Yes, if the crossing is open there is an immigration officer that will take care of your landing.

If you want you can call them to let them know date and approximately at what time
you are planning to cross the border.

Holy Moly! You got your visa last June 6th and are just now landing? I would have been there on June 7th! Lol

And no matter what time you get to the border crossing someone will be there to assist you.

You might want to google the land border you are crossing, as some of them don't do landings (immigration) 24/7. The one I used was open from 8 am to midnight 7 days a week, I believe, and when I called, they recommended I come no later than half an hour before closing time.

Agreed. You need to check. Just because the border is open 24/7 doesn't mean you can land 24/7.

To process your landing, you need to ensure there is an immigration officer on duty. Since they are only available at certain border crossings for certain shifts, immigration services are only offered at certain border crossings, and as scylla and Kayaker mentioned, during certain set hours.

You can see the list of border posts with immigration services on CBSA's website at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/services/imm-eng.html. Each office has its immigration services hours listed in the link with specific office info below the map.

Fantastic! We haven't received PPR or anything but we were thinking of crossing by land and spending the weekend (Sat-Mon) in Niagara Falls. Now I know we better go on a Friday to get an agent. Thanks!

Edit: Reading is truly fundamental. Sheesh. I just saw office hours, but when I scrolled down it's Immigration 24hrs. We'll still go on Friday, though. What the hell. An extra day of vacation.

+1 for the OP - I had no idea this could be an issue!

I'm surprised to see that Pearson airport is NOT 24 hours for immigration, but maybe there aren't that many overnight international arrivals? In any event, we'll pick flights accordingly!

My Visa expires May 2015 as well. I know I'm pushing it with the expiration... circumstances beyond my control. But I am doing it now

I have printed off this form, Its the application for PR card. On the last page is a checklist. The check list says I need 2 photographs. I already sent all my photograph in with my original PR application. Do I need to go get more taken, or will they have it on file? In the directions part I thought I read that it all had to match. I don't have any more pictures, I sent them all with my app.

You shouldn't need to complete an application for a PR card.

As long as you provide an address within the first 180 days of landing, the application and fees are included in your PR application and landing fees and they will use the photographs you already submitted (one of which is on the CoPR that CIC will keep).

One thing: don't forget to complete your B4 and take it with you to declare any household goods you own, have used, and possed and plan to import (now or in the future)
