http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/ohipfaq_mn.aspx

Anybody have any experience ?

Can you apply before approval in principle?

If so, please let me know how. My wife needs to see a doctor to follow up some conditions she has but private insurances only cover ugency / emergency

Thanks

She'll need to pay for this care out of her own pocket.

You can apply before AIP if she has an OWP, and an employer who will issue a letter stating that they intend to employ her for 6 months or more. This will need to be signed in black ink and on company letterhead. As with all new or returning applications, OHIP takes 90 days to be eligible (unless you somehow convince them to waive that).

Thanks for the link.

This one is good too (also maintained by CIC/Ontario Government): http://settlement.org/ontario/health/ohip-and-health-insurance/health-ohip-card/how-do-i-apply-for-a-health-card-ohip/

My husband does not have a full time job only part time so he does not qualify. We have to wait.

I have a work permit and I also have an OHIP. My wife is also in Canada on a student permit. Is my wife eligible to get OHIP?

I’m a PR working full time in Canada for 2 years and I’m thinking about sponsoring my spouse inland (visitor visa).

Can she get OHIP using this clause?
“you are the spouse, or dependent child of an OHIP-eligible foreign worker;”

I’m not sure if I can be considered a “foreign” worker.

You are not a foreign worker.
