Are nurses required to get liscence first for immigration under FSW 1?

I met with one of the local immigration consultants today. He told me that nurses are required to get nursing liscence first from one of the provinces in Canada before applying for immigration. This is contrary to what i have read on this forum. Can anybody confirm if this is true?

For registration you need to sit the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) which is offered in Canada only.

As far as I know, you do not need to be a registered nurse for immigration purposes. Even for initial registration you don't need to show any English proficiency certificate in the beginning. This can be done later.

For more information about nursing in Ontario visit http://www.cno.org/
in Vancouver http://www.nursevancouver.com/
in Alberta http://www.nurses.ab.ca/Carna/index.aspx?WebStructureID=1277
in Saskatchewan http://www.srna.org/

Good Luck

Thanks! This is what my understanding is. I wonder if there is any nurse on this forum who has applied under new and could share his/her experience, that would be of great value to me.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi, I filed my FSW last January 2009 and was given 120 days to complete the checklist last February 2009. I have forwarded all the said documents to London and waiting for Medical notice. I aslo received my eligibility to take the Canadian Board of College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba. I filed my assessment and application last January and received my approval and eligibility this April only.
Hope this helps.

Thanks very much! However, to be absolutely sure, does it mean that nursing liscence or temporary permit to practice as a grduate nurse is not a requirement for FSW?

When i filed my FSW, i don't my eligibility. However, I got my first approval from Nova Scotia. Based on this, i think it is not required as long as you have the minimum of 4 years nursing experince to get a full score for experience.
Our seniors here are more experience to this matter. i know they will share their expertise.

I think you right we do not need the Nursing Eligibility for applying on new fast track program!

The work experience is enough but its GOOD if you can get the elibility with the process time to get the job right away in Canada.

Jalal1, the consultant that you visited obviously does not know what they are talking about. You do not need to be a registered nurse in Canada for you to start your application as FSW. Visit CIC-website and check the 38 occupational list that was announced last November 08, RNs are included here and they will be fast-tracked provided you meet the rest of the requirements.
Piece of advice, if ever you will continue with the application, do not utilize the services of the consultant that you visited, these are the type of consultant that will jeopardize your good chance to migrate to canada.

Thanks!
I have been regularly reading on this forum and have gone through the details on website as well, and I don't intend to hire any messenger (consultant) for applying. I visited them just to be absolutely sure, but they were rather ill informed.
