Could someone please confirm if cooks (NOC 6322) are eligible to apply under FSTC? Since the latest update in CEC omitting cooks in the list we are desperate to look for other ways to apply for residency.

Also, is educational attainment a requirement like In federal skilled worker class(FSW)? I'm afraid my husband's secondary diploma does not equal to Canada's secondary education since he graduated from the Philippines with only 4 years in high school.

Thanks in advance for those who will shed us some light.

You can find information about the FSTC program here:

No - cooks are not on the list. Cooking is not a trade.

FYI - here's the specific list of occupations being accepted under this program:

no.not included 2013

Thank you for your swift response. Maybe we have to give up our hopes now. He's nearing his 4year deadline for temporary foreign worker and can no longer renew his work permit next year.

It was so sad that we're so close to submitting his application this week and yet the new update came
for CEC :(

Thanks and God bless.

Why can't he renew his work permit? The four year rule was put in place in 2011 and is not retroactive. There is nothing stopping him from renewing his work permit. He won't have problems until 2015.

Thanks for suggesting but I'm afraid he's not qualified for pNP under nova scotia's requisites. His education does not equal to Canada's high school :(

His wp is still valid until dec 2014 but after that he can no longer reapply for a renewal since he's been working full time since dec 2010. Im afraid they won't extend his stay until apr 2015:(

Your understanding of the rule is incorrect. The rule was put in place in April 2011 and is NOT retroactive. This means he can extend his work permit to April 2015 without any issues. After April 2015 - he will be impacted by the 4 year rule.

I hope some options to meet your desire comes your way. In any event, looks like you need to return some day, due to your current status. Did you consider, changing / learning a trade and applying for PR through trade? You might want to consider that as well. While we have certain skills today, we could always acquire additional skills to meet life's desires. All the best with your future plans and life.

Kind Regards

Czarina i will send you a link (private message) from cic regarding federal skilled trades class. i guess posting link here is not allowed.

try FSTC, you have nothing to lose.. update me if ever your husband is going to apply for this stream coz my husband is planning to apply also. masyadong kasing maraming papers ang PNP. dalawang application pa. i think pwede pa din husband mo sa PNP kasi meron akong kilala na hindi nakatapos ng high school pero na-nominate siya.

czarina's husband's work permit will expire on dec. 2014 and april 1, 2015 is just less than 4 months... so its useless to apply for renewal.
