Many of us want to! How do we get started though? What's the procedure?

You follow the same procedure to immigrate as anyone else would (there's no special application stream for Americans). Canada has several different immigration programs. You'll have to research them to see if you qualify to apply: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

Good luck.

It is sad that there are a bunch of Americans who actually want to leave their country because their preference did not land in the white house. So instead of trying to keep it up they decide to abandon ship.

There are some highly vulnerable groups that will be actively discriminated against under the upcoming administration.

Saying that in a campaign and actually following through are two whole different things. They even had trouble pushing the obama care trough. The US as it is is the way congress wants it. Not a whole lot is gonna change with a new president

That's not what a member of one of the aforementioned groups has told me. There is REAL concern present. Because of the pre-election rhetoric, there is now a perceived tolerance of negative behavior that was not present before. In other words, "If the president can talk like that, so can we..". cf 1930's Germany.

Correct. The term is "trickle down racism". Those who voted for Trump deserve him.

The exception being (at least until January) the fact that US and Mexican citizens who work in specific occupations can come to Canada as worker - that part of the website appears to be crashing now : )

The list of occupations

Unfortunately, you are wrong. For the Democrat Obama, the Republicans controlled congress. This is the opposite scenario, because the Republicans still control congress. It is terrifying.

The KKK is already holding public rallies. If you were a person of color, would you want your raise your kids there?

Just purchased a small house and a few acres in Nova Scotia today. As a member of a family of Holocaust survivors, there is one thing we learned out of WW II.

If someone tells you they are going to do something. . .

Believe it.

A friend of mine in Arizona's 8-year-old daughter was asked today when she got on the school bus by other children that "shouldn't she sit in the back of the bus now?"

Another friend's son (born in the U.S.) was asked where his "green card" was.

A street vendor was video'd yelling that "It's legal to grab women's p***y now!" And men high-fiving each other and laughing.

I'm done with this country.

Hopefully you are aware that purchasing a property in Canada does not entitle you to move here or live here. In order to move here and live here permanently, you must apply for permanent residency. Unfortunately having a property in Canada doesn't automatically give you PR or make it easier to qualify.

FWIW I applied in 2011 as a Quebec Skilled Worker and got the PR in 2016.

With the new system in place you could get residency in 6 months only if you're selected; i.e. It's a points based lottery.
