It also depends if you have Canadian experience working as architects

they like Architects who do everything from meeting clients, desining the project, working drawings to code, site supervision, interior design, 3d renderings, 2d drafting, you will need to know to do 4 or 5 people's job and then you will get hired very next day. they like jack of all trades here to save money on paying 5 salaries. honest truth. in America they like specialization. here they want 1 guy to do 5 jobs. they're 10 years behind Amrica in everything.

They have a very smart way to say it "Are you comfortable switching multiple hats at your work place?"

hopefully you'll be able to convince them that your Middle East experience is relevant in canada.
I have an Architect friend in Guelph who works at a supermarket.
not to discourage you, but get ready for the cut throat competition in Toronto.

thank you for the insight...We heard lots of stories about immigrants working outside their field...we are willing to take the risks...by the way, we're landing in Edmonton

aha, same case as ours...so your point of view is coming first hand from your own experience there?
We are aware of the situation, that we cannot practice our profession right away, that we need further studies and Canadian work experience, and licensure board exams. From time to time we try to browse, ask queries from friends already landed there, most especially, looking for better place to start our life...so far Edmonton is the best...
Though we are still here in mideast, we try to acquire more knowledge that could enhance our skills...hope these efforts could bring us to a better position once we land in the coming months.

What we are doing so far, is gathering all the things that could help us practice our craft there. My husband-being the principal applicant, tries so hard to enroll in some short courses all about architecture, and the like. Since he spends most of his career time working in a private company..that would be his edge.

In my case, I came from a government office back home, spent my career time working in various offices...and that made me diversified...i think....

We don't wish for an immediate comfortable life as soon as we land, but we are praying hard that we don't have to take jobs way far from our field just to survive...for our children's sake, may the good Lord bless us more.

If it is fine with you, could i ask more queries?

no comment but this is the link for the Ontario association of Architects job postings, they add new jobs every week. these are real jobs from real famous Canadian firms, not scams as most job ads are scams.

I wouldn't know sorry, I live in Ontario, I have immigrant architect freinds who lived in Montreal who told me they couldn't find a job there so they moved to Ontario and now they are working.
